What to take with you to the hospital list. What to take with you to the hospital: the most complete list of necessary things

What do you need to take to the hospital? Things and documents

From about the 32nd week of pregnancy, it is advisable to collect all the necessary documents for the maternity hospital and carry them everywhere with you, just in case. From week 36 there is a real possibility that they will start unexpectedly, so the level of readiness must be further increased.

Documents for the maternity hospital

  • the passport;
  • medical policy;
  • exchange card;
  • childbirth contract (if you signed one).

Put it all neatly in a bag or file and carry it with you in your bag, especially if you are planning to go somewhere.

List of necessary things in the hospital - what to take for childbirth

When your labor starts and you are admitted to the hospital, you will be allowed to bring very few things with you to the birth. Ideally, a pregnant woman should be given everything except slippers. Much here depends on the hospital, on the conditions and rules that are accepted in it. Therefore, it is better to agree on the list in advance and find out what is possible and what is not:

  • washable slippers;
  • hygiene items: toothpaste, brush, shampoo (more convenient in bags), baby soap, comb.
  • A player or phone with music that you have previously selected for yourself for childbirth (not allowed in all maternity hospitals, you need to find out in advance);
  • photo or video camera, if you decide to capture the moment of the birth of your baby. It is better to give them to your birth partner, for example, to your husband.

What you may need after childbirth

You can buy a ready-made kit at a pharmacy, but it’s better to put things from it in a bag: in many maternity hospitals they are not allowed to carry bags. You can also assemble everything you need yourself.
Things for mom

  • Bathrobe and nightgown. In many maternity hospitals, these things are prohibited and you need to use only those that are issued.
  • Postpartum pads. For the first three days, you may not be allowed to use pads. This is due to the fact that the doctor needs to monitor the discharge after childbirth.
  • Toilet paper is the softest you can buy.
  • Crockery: mug, plate, spoon.
  • Mineral water, if you don't want to drink boiled tap water.
  • Towel.
  • Cotton shorts - at least 3 pieces.
  • Nursing bra. Very useful, it is better to take two: while one dries, the second can be worn.

The birth of a child may begin earlier than the due date, so a woman must prepare for it in advance. Doctors advise starting to collect the necessary things from the 30th week of pregnancy. So the expectant mother will be able to slowly prepare everything and not forget anything.

This list is very long. To make it easier to collect it, the list is advised to be divided into 3 parts:

  • things for childbirth;
  • things after childbirth;
  • items for release.

All of them are placed in ordinary strong packages. To comply with sanitary norms and rules, leather, rag and other types of bags cannot be brought to the maternity hospital. On each package you can write what is in it - it will be easier to find the right thing.

To prevent thrombosis during childbirth, women in labor wear compression stockings. They are selected individually in size, so they should be bought in advance at a pharmacy or orthopedic salon. In case of thirst, you can take a bottle of non-carbonated water to the delivery room. After giving birth, a woman will need a sanitary napkin and special pants. You also need to take money and a mobile phone.

Things to check out

Discharge from the hospital is an important and solemn event. Preparation for it requires special attention. The main thing here is to choose the right clothes in which a woman with a child will leave the hospital. It should be not only elegant, but also correspond to the season.

In summer, you don’t need a lot of things and the child can be dressed in a bodysuit or slip made of cotton, a beautiful summer suit, a light envelope. A cap is put on the head.

In the spring, the child should be dressed warmer: a fleece jumpsuit can be worn over a cotton bodysuit with long sleeves, and a thin hat can be worn on the head.

Clothes for a newborn should be comfortable, made of natural fabrics. Bright colors may indicate the presence of harmful dyes in the fabrics.

In autumn, if the weather allows, the baby can also be dressed in a light jumpsuit, complementing it with a thin blanket. If the weather is rainy and damp, the child is dressed in warm, waterproof overalls.

In winter, so that the child does not freeze, he is dressed in a tight, insulated overalls. As an alternative to it, you can use a fur envelope.

Mom also chooses comfortable clothes for herself, according to weather conditions.

What to take to the hospital in case of a caesarean section

Most often, a woman knows that she will have a caesarean section. But it happens that natural childbirth does not go according to the planned scenario and doctors decide on the operation at the last moment. Therefore, it is better to prepare in advance for a possible surgical intervention, especially since the set of things does not differ much from the standard one. It just needs to be added:

  • postoperative bandage;
  • with a special postoperative plaster, 25x10 cm in size.

After the operation, relatives should take care of the normal nutrition of the young mother. To normalize the work of the intestines, cereals, prunes, sour-milk products will be useful.

The fees to the hospital must be approached with all responsibility. You can buy a ready-made maternity bag at the pharmacy, but, as a rule, none of them meets all the requirements. It is better to think through everything thoroughly and assemble things yourself, taking into account your individual needs.

What do you need to take with you to the hospital?

Now the deadline is slowly coming to an end. Mom is already mentally in childbirth, and even in the postpartum period. From day to day, all family members are waiting for the start of contractions. By this time, you should already have collected all the necessary things that you will take with you to the hospital. Do this ahead of time as there will be a lot to buy, most likely in different places, and it will take time and effort on your part. In addition, with the approach of that very day, and especially with the onset of contractions, a woman becomes irritable, overly emotional and even aggressive, your memory can generally be knocked off. So the package must wait in the wings. And to make it more convenient, distribute everything you need into 3 bags: the one that you take with you right away, the one that will be brought to you after childbirth, and the one that will be needed for discharge. If you are planning a partner birth, prepare a separate bag for your husband (or who will be there with you). Sign each of them, and even better - attach a list with a list of contents.

We expose basic lists of things that in each individual case can be adjusted depending on your needs, habits and rules of the particular maternity hospital where you will give birth. Therefore, it will not be superfluous to clarify this in advance.

    List in the maternity hospital for a child?

    If the bag for the maternity hospital for mom is ready, start collecting things for the baby. In the first moments of life, it is important to give the baby a feeling of comfort and warmth. Clothing plays an important role in this.

    When buying things for a child, pay attention to the quality of the fabric and tailoring. In summer, take clothes from light materials, in winter you will need warmer clothes. The main thing is that the baby feels comfortable in them.

    Put baby items in the delivery room on top or in a separate bag so that the nurse can quickly get them. Wash all clothes with baby hypoallergenic powder or soap, dry and iron on both sides.

    Take one set of clothes to the delivery room, and 2-3 to the postpartum ward. These can be bodysuits - they are convenient for changing a diaper, they cover the baby's back well. Soft overalls, shirts and rompers will do. Be sure to take 3-4 pairs of socks and a few caps. Don't forget the scratch mittens. They will warm the baby's hands and prevent him from waking himself up with involuntary movements.

    The list of things in the hospital for a newborn is as follows:

    • Disposable diapers of the smallest size - at least 20 pieces. Choose high-quality hypoallergenic options, the baby's skin after birth is especially tender and vulnerable.
    • Thin cotton and flannel diapers - 5 pcs.
    • Disposable diapers - 2 pcs. They can be laid out when the child is examined by a pediatrician, weighed or while changing clothes.
    • A thin blanket with a duvet cover or plaid.
    • Hygiene products: baby soap, cotton buds and discs, nail scissors with blunt ends, wet hypoallergenic wipes.
    • Baby oil, diaper rash cream and remedy, powder.
    • Bottle, pacifier.
    • Pipettes - 2 pcs., new syringes without needles (with their help it is easier to give medicine to the child).
    • Small enema and aspirator.
    • Digital Thermometer.

    The list in the maternity hospital for a child for discharge looks like this:

    • diaper;
    • a diaper to spread while dressing;
    • a set of blouses and panties or overalls;
    • cap;
    • socks, booties;
    • fancy envelope.

    In winter, clothes should be warmer; in the heat, an envelope is not needed. If a partner birth is planned, do not forget the documents and clothes for the husband. Do not take things to the hospital with you for discharge, relatives can bring them.

    Bag to the hospital 2019: a list of necessary things for mom and baby

    Pregnancy is a trembling time for a woman in anticipation of the appearance of a baby. By 40 weeks, it is necessary to prepare things for the hospital. Better collect bag to the maternity hospital according to the list so as not to forget anything.

    Deadlines for collection

    The pregnant woman independently chooses the time of filling the bag to the hospital. But usually the collection process begins at 32-35 weeks of pregnancy.

    In pharmacies, online stores, expectant mothers are recommended to purchase transparent bag for maternity hospital. The main advantage of the purchase is that you do not need to assemble anything yourself, things are packed. The cost of a finished bag is beyond the reach of many women. Therefore, you have to collect things according to the list.

    How to pack a bag

    Assembled according to the standard 3 bags to the hospital: things of mother, child, on discharge day. Some women prefer to take the necessary things first. Then relatives deliver the rest. Bag to the hospital in 2019 collected according to the rules:

      The volume of collected things does not exceed the allowable space in the bedside table of the ward. Most women are used to typing a lot of things, which is wrong.

    It is better to take the maximum of disposable funds. These include diapers, samplers of shampoos, gels, a small tube of toothpaste, diapers, disposable underpants. Otherwise, after giving birth, a woman will be lucky to return a lot of things. It's easier when there are fewer bags on checkout.

    It is allowed to take only packages to the maternity hospital. Do not pack in leather bags or fabric bags. They do not meet the sanitary and epidemiological standards of medical institutions.

  • When planning partner births, the accompanying person's clothes are collected. The kit includes a bathrobe, a special mask, fresh clothes, slippers, a plastic cap, slippers and shoe covers. As documents, they take a passport and a sheet from the passed fluorography.
  • Everything for the baby

    The maternity hospital bag should always contain clothes and necessary supplies for the newborn. The list of baby items includes:

      hygiene product for washing the baby;

    disposable diapers, about 5 pieces, in winter it is recommended to take fabric sheets made of cotton or chintz;

    warm blanket, blanket;

    baby wipes;

    10 pieces of diapers;

    an aspirator for sucking fluid from the baby's nose may not be necessary, but it is better to take it;

    cotton buds for children with a special limiter;

    3-4 jumpsuit bodysuits, 3 hats, socks, scratches, the external component depends on the season;

    envelope, clothes for discharge day;

    Attention! Not all purchased ready-made bags for the maternity hospital contain the things listed. Be careful before sending to the maternity ward. Check things on the list.

    Things for mom

    Second maternity bag contains things of the expectant mother: prenatal, postnatal and documents.

    Bag to the hospital for the price 3000 rubles and more comes out. It is preferable to take care of the money for this business in advance.

    Documentation

    It is more practical to collect documents for the maternity hospital in a separate folder. Expectant mother takes:

    sick leave, issued by the antenatal clinic at the place of treatment;

    exchange card of a pregnant woman;

    birth certificate, issued in the antenatal clinic;

    current tests: for hepatitis, HIV, hemostasiogram and others.

    if a woman gives birth in a paid clinic, you will need a contract for paid services.

    Prenatal

    More often, pregnant women go to bed in advance with all things in the hospital before the expected date of birth. For this they are going to:

    2 clean towels: large for the body, small for the face;

    removable underwear;

    things of everyday wear, it is better to choose a dressing gown that is comfortable for the body;

    a pack of wet and dry wipes;

    a set of dishes; mug, spoon, plate;

    bags for dirty clothes or garbage;

    All the things that you will need in the hospital should be collected in advance. By about the 37th week of pregnancy, you should already have two large collected plastic bags at home - things for the birth itself and things for the postpartum period. Accordingly, it is worth doing the collection and purchase of the necessary things according to the list even earlier, for example, from the 30th week of pregnancy, as soon as you go on maternity leave, in order to do it calmly, without stress and without haste.
    Documents - an exchange card, a passport, etc. - should always be carried with you from about the 35th week of pregnancy.
    All items must be placed in a plastic bag(s). As a rule, maternity hospitals prohibit carrying bags.

    • Postpartum - they are also urological - pads (pads for very heavy discharge), not tampons! Package.

    What else do you need in a maternity hospital?

    Food! The fact is that they feed in maternity hospitals, as a rule, not very much. And in most maternity hospitals, dinner ends already at 18.00 - 19.00, and it is very difficult to live before breakfast, given that a newborn wakes up several times during the night. In addition, when breastfeeding, a young mother produces the hormone oxytacin, which significantly increases her appetite. Therefore, in the maternity hospital, you must definitely have some of your own food so as not to starve, because a lack of food can easily affect the amount of breast milk. It is also important to drink plenty of fluids. Find out in advance what kind of diet a nursing mother should follow for the first time.
    Additional food for you at the hospital can be brought by your relatives. It must be of high quality, "correct" and fresh.

    Also in the hospital, with a high degree of probability, the following medications may be needed:

    • Ointment against hemorrhoids, which often occurs or worsens during childbirth.
    • Laxative if there were incisions. Glycerin suppositories or microclysters microlax.
    • Painkillers - also for incisions. For example, candles ketonal.

    These and other medicines that suddenly turn out to be necessary should be ready to be brought to the maternity hospital by your relatives.

    If you or your spouse have any allergies, you need to understand that your baby will also have a predisposition to allergies. And if it happens that a newborn in the maternity hospital will have to be supplemented with a mixture, then it is better to let it be a hypoallergenic mixture. And you need to take it with you, because in the maternity hospital they can only offer the usual one.
    If there is a predisposition to allergies, then it is better to mentally prepare for the fact that at first the baby will be allergic to cow's milk protein, since this is the most common allergen in young children. And if you need to choose a mixture, then you can read about it here: about choosing a formula for a child with an allergy to cow protein.

    Now you know thoroughly what things for mom and baby will be needed in the maternity hospital .

    It is worth adding that the lists of things in the maternity hospital vary slightly depending on the institution. As a rule, a list of things is published on the websites of maternity hospitals. Find out exactly where you are going to give birth! The list on this page is as complete as possible.

    List of things in the hospital.

    Many pregnant women are interested in the question - what should I take with me to the hospital?

    Below is a sample list of things you might need in the hospital. We recommend that you put the necessary things in separate packages in advance (after the 25th week) (as a rule, you are not allowed to take a bag with you) just in case of an unforeseen event.

    If you have already chosen a maternity hospital, learn more about the list of things recommended in this maternity hospital for mom and baby. Some maternity hospitals indicate what you can take with you, in others you can only state-owned.

    The documents

    1. The passport and its photocopy (first page and registration).
    2. Exchange card with the results of all the necessary tests - issued by a doctor of the antenatal clinic or in a medical institution that has the right to issue all the necessary documentation. 3. Compulsory health insurance policy and its photocopy.
    4. Insurance certificate of compulsory pension insurance and a photocopy of the front.
    5. Birth certificate. Issued from 30 weeks of pregnancy. The absence of a certificate does not threaten anything. When a woman enters a maternity hospital without a birth certificate, the maternity hospital takes measures to obtain a birth certificate, including through antenatal clinics. If a woman concludes an agreement with the maternity hospital on the provision of paid services, coupon No. 2 of the birth certificate is not paid.
    6. Referral from the antenatal clinic. If you want to go to the antenatal ward (pathology department) beforehand.
    7. Childbirth contract if concluded.

    About a week before the birth, check again if you have prepared everything for childbirth for yourself and for birth, for the baby.

    It is not customary to come to the hospital empty-handed. The expectant mother must collect a special bag with things that she and the baby will need.

    Polina Kalmykova

    Young mom

    There were a huge number of options for the contents of the “bag to the hospital” on the Internet, but it turned out to be a difficult task to understand what is really necessary and what you can do without.

    Here's how I handled it and what I ended up overpaying for.

    Looking for ready made options

    The stores offer ready-made universal options. They cost from 2 to 10 thousand and eliminate the need to go to pharmacies and supermarkets.

    Width="2000" height="1531" class="" style="max-width: 1000.0px; height: auto"> Bags differ in the number of items and manufacturers: for example, in the set “Economy” there is Bebi water, and in the set “ Elite "- Evian for 180 R. Source: time-to-maternity hospital.rf

    I wanted to save money, so I didn’t order a ready-made bag on the Internet, but decided to assemble it myself, buying everything in Auchan. I was embarrassed that in some sets there are 50-60 elements, and in the basic ones there are no more than 30 - which means that having bought such a bag, I will either overpay for the unnecessary, or I will still be forced to buy some of the things.

    I looked at the lists in maternity hospitals

    It turned out that each maternity hospital has its own requirements for things that mother and child will need.

    In order not to overpay for something that is definitely not useful, it is better to know in advance in which medical facility the birth will take place. If you are going to give birth in a private maternity hospital for a fee, you may not need to collect a bag at all: everything you need, including postpartum hygiene products, will be given out on the spot.

    Faced with reality

    It quickly became clear that instead of one bag, it was necessary to collect three: with documents, with things for the delivery room, and with things for the postpartum ward.

    The documents. If the birth has already begun, doctors will accept them without documents. But in order to end up in an ordinary ward after that, and not in the observation department, it is better to have a passport, an exchange card, a compulsory medical insurance policy and a birth certificate, if you have one.

    Items for the delivery room. Usually, doctors are only allowed to take slippers, a phone with a charger and water into the delivery room. Slippers should be washable - any rubber will do. It makes no sense to overpay for the appearance: in the maternity hospital everyone wears the same “construction” slippers, and no one is embarrassed.

    Width="611" height="337" class="" style="max-width: 305.5px; height: auto"> These slippers are suitable for the delivery room, they cost 100-150 R

    I didn’t see compression stockings in the lists of maternity hospitals, they didn’t tell me anything about this either, but they were needed during childbirth: while I was having contractions, my husband had to run around pharmacies and look for a pair of the right degree of compression.

    But chocolate and cookies, which I saw on the list of one of the maternity hospitals, were not allowed to be taken to the delivery room.

    What did I take to the delivery room?

    Rubber slippers150 R
    chocolate bar75 R
    Cookie packaging30 R
    Bottle of water20 R
    Total775 R

    Things for the postpartum department. On the forums, I read that they are allowed to bring things to the hospital only in special transparent bags. I believed and spent 300 R. It turned out that ordinary plastic bags are also suitable.

    In the postpartum ward, disposable personal hygiene items are useful, but you don’t need to buy a lot, because the mother and baby are usually only there for 3-5 days.

    What I took to the postpartum ward

    Total2238 R

    It’s not worth saving on disposable underwear: in many maternity hospitals it is forbidden to wear regular clothes, so you may be offered a not very aesthetic and comfortable hospital alternative.

    But you can save on breast pads. They are all the same - a round cotton pad with Velcro, and I did not notice the difference between pads for 150 and 500 R. In addition to disposable liners, stores offer expensive reusable ones, but it makes no sense to buy in advance, because not all women need them.

    Instead of "Bepanten" for 550 R, you can take a cheaper cream. I even preferred to buy a universal ointment, which is also suitable for healing diaper rash in a baby.

    What did the child need in the hospital

    You should not immediately take a large pack of diapers: if the brand does not suit the child, you will have to buy new ones, and the money for the old ones will be wasted.

    In my bag I put a nightgown and a bathrobe, which I bought especially for the maternity hospital. I didn’t need them: postpartum clothes were given out at the maternity hospital and changed every day. In ordinary life, I don’t wear such things, so I wasted my money.

    Children's things were also not useful: the first days of the child were wrapped in hospital diapers. But the child then wore these things at home, so the purchase was justified.

    Instruction for the beginner, cheat sheet for the seasoned

    Collecting bags in for many becomes a real challenge. What to take? What not to take? Will I be able to collect everything? What if I forget something? Our material will help make the fees easier and more enjoyable: just follow the instructions.

    When to start collecting?

    Many future mothers begin to pack their "alarm suitcase" almost after they saw the coveted plus sign on the test. And others, on the contrary, put off these exciting chores until the last moment. Let's agree: there is nothing wrong with these camps, on the contrary, these are very pleasant worries that help to tune in to childbirth and meeting with the unborn baby. Even if you forget something, nothing terrible will happen, all vital things are available in the maternity hospital by default, and your relatives can bring everything you need for your personal comfort.

    Important! A good time to start preparing for the maternity hospital, provided that you are not indicated for antenatal hospitalization, is 35-36 weeks of pregnancy.

    How to pack?

    It is most convenient to divide all things into three groups:

    • (It will be brought to you later by relatives).

    Accordingly, you will need to collect not one, but three “disturbing suitcases” at once. But you will be sure that everything is in place and you do not have to carry a heavy bag.

    Important! All things must be packed only in plastic bags! Most maternity hospitals prohibit cloth or leather bags for hygiene reasons. Tip: take three bags of different colors or make noticeable labels so as not to be confused.

    Symbums tell

    On the eve of the birth, I packed things in identical bags from the supermarket and folded them in the hallway. So not only did my husband almost take out my “alarm suitcase” along with the garbage, but in the end we mixed up the packages and arrived at the maternity hospital with contractions armed with an embroidered blanket and a dress for discharge. Fortunately, we live nearby, my husband quickly went and exchanged them while I was making out.

    Readiness No. 1: a package for childbirth

    This package is the most important, because it is these things that you will take with you to the birth, where no one from your relatives with a safety package will be allowed to enter.

    So, in this package we will put:

    1. Documents: passport, compulsory medical insurance policy, birth certificate, exchange card. If the husband will be present at the birth, then a package of documents is also needed for him: his passport, marriage certificate, fluorography results (it is better to check the list at the maternity hospital);
    2. Rubber slippers- it is convenient to take a shower in them and they are easy to wash - this quality is useful in the postpartum department;
    3. Disposable diapers- it is better to take a large package (15-20 pieces) - they will come in handy during the discharge of water and secretions during childbirth and in the postpartum.
    4. Water without gas- During childbirth, sometimes you really want to drink.
    5. thick socks- it can be chilly in the delivery room.
    6. Toilet paper or wet wipes;
    7. Bathrobe and oversized T-shirt(True, in most maternity hospitals, their own clothes are prohibited - they give out sterile “overalls” of cheerful colors).
    8. Hygienic lipstick.
    9. Additional package in order to put the clothes in which you will arrive at the hospital
    10. Mobile phone and charger for it.

    Symbums tell

    I never thought that chapped lips could bring me such discomfort during childbirth. In maternity hospitals, the air is always very dry due to the constant quartzing, and the intense "breathing" of contractions dries the lips even more. Next time I will definitely bring a lip balm with me.

    First days in comfort: "postpartum" package (Second package)

    Here you need to put things that mom and baby will need. Only the essentials! Why do you need to drag a heavy package to the hospital? On the first day after childbirth, if you see that you are missing a table lamp or your favorite silver spoon, your loved ones will be happy to bring you everything you need.

    Things for mom:

    1. Hygiene items: toothpaste and brush, soap, shampoo, moisturizer, comb, hair clip);
    2. Disposable postpartum panties 5 pcs;
    3. Special postpartum pads or regular softest super absorbent 2 packs;
    4. Postpartum slimming bandage if you plan to wear it
    5. Healing cream or ointment for nipples;
    6. personal utensils: mug, spoon, you can take a small thermos;
    7. Bra for feeding and inserts for him.

    Symbums tell

    In the postpartum period, I recalled with such gratitude my husband, who “smuggled” stuffed a small thermos into my bag! Milk arrived badly, I always wanted a warm drink. A thermos with tea helped out a lot, especially at night.

    Baby items:

    1. baby soap(more convenient liquid with a dispenser) and wet napkins for wiping the priests (both are useful);
    2. Children's cream and powder;
    3. Diapers for newborns (the package should be marked 2-5 kg or "Newborn");
    4. Clothes and diapers: in maternity hospitals they usually give out sterile clean diapers, but you can bring your own if you wish. You can also grab a couple of sets of seasonal clothes: undershirts, sliders or pajamas, a pair of socks, a hat.

    We are going home: package for discharge (Third package)

    You will not take this package to the hospital- it will be delivered to you before discharge by relatives. And this is an important reason to treat his collection with all responsibility - it would be a shame to be left on the eve of discharge without cosmetics or a ribbon for the baby's envelope.

    Baby items:

    1. Pajamas or vest with sliders, hat, socks;
    2. Or diaper: thin and flannel, if you are going to swaddle the baby;
    3. A smart bedspread, blanket or warm envelope- depending on the season.

    Things for mom:

    1. Smart and comfortable clothes(best of all - a spacious dress, you will most likely be uncomfortable in jeans), outerwear and shoes;
    2. Cosmetics: To feel more confident and enjoy posing for the first photo with your baby.

    Symbums tell

    Girls, be sure to collect the package for discharge! And then my friend didn’t “get confused” and her husband forgot to bring her ... boots. I had to check out in my grandfather's boots of size 42.

    1 .06.2015

    Then you won't lose it!

    Fees to the hospital should begin as early as a month or even two before the expected date of birth. Firstly, because in the vast majority of cases they occur approximately 2 weeks earlier than the due date, that is, by, and by this time you should be fully prepared for their start. Secondly, now this is facilitated by free time and relatively good health: you have already gone on maternity leave, and with the approach of childbirth, it will be more and more problematic to go shopping (there may appear, the pressure of the fetus on the bladder will force you to run to the toilet every minute). And in general, you should not postpone everything until the last day. You will be much calmer and feel better if things in the hospital are ready in advance.

    For the greatest convenience, we suggest that you form three bags at once. One will contain things that you will need during childbirth and immediately after them. In the second, put everything you need for the duration of your stay in the hospital, and prepare the third for discharge. And in each of these bags there will be a separate package - for the child.

    So, what will your baby need in the first days of his life?

    In the "maternity" package, collect the following necessary things for the crumbs:

    • disposable diaper;
    • diapers - 2 pieces (calico and flannel);
    • bodysuit or vest;
    • sliders;
    • cap or thin hat;
    • socks.

    You will take these things for the child with you to the hospital immediately when you go to give birth.

    In the second package, put things for the baby in the hospital, which will be brought to you after the birth:

    • disposable diapers for newborns for 2-5 kg - 1 pack;
    • cotton buds and discs;
    • baby wipes;
    • diaper rash cream or powder;
    • liquid soap for children;
    • moisturizing cream for children;
    • brilliant green, hydrogen peroxide, calendula tincture (for treating the navel);
    • Digital Thermometer;
    • nail scissors with blunt ends;
    • diapers - 5 pieces of cotton and flannelette (even if you are not going to swaddle the baby);
    • undershirts - 3 pieces each thin and warm;
    • anti-scratch mittens - 2 pairs;
    • socks - 2 pairs;
    • knitted hat or cap - light and warmer;
    • several interchangeable sets of clothes top + bottom (sliders + blouse) or 2 diapers for each day;
    • bodysuit;
    • jumpsuit-sleeping bag with buttons or a zipper in front (according to the season);
    • disposable diapers or oilcloth in the crib;
    • a blanket with a duvet cover or a terry towel;
    • small towels or cloth napkins.

    You may also need a bottle and pacifier. If you do not plan to supplement or supplement the baby, as well as give him a pacifier, then you can do without them. But just in case, it might not hurt (and in some maternity hospitals, a bottle is included in the list of mandatory things) - then grab a brush as well.

    Separately, prepare a package with children's things that the baby will need for - their relatives will bring you on the last day of your stay in the hospital or on the eve of sending home:

    • disposable diapers - 2 pcs.;
    • overalls-sleeping bag x / b - on buttons or a snake in front (according to the season);
    • thin cotton hat or bonnet;
    • socks (according to the season);
    • cotton and flannelette diaper;
    • overalls-envelope with a solid bottom - terry or winter insulated (according to the season);
    • hat for the street (according to the season);
    • bow or ribbon for "gift wrapping" (optional);
    • cloth napkin or handkerchief;
    • a car seat for newborns, or a carrying bag, or a cradle from a stroller (for transporting a baby in a car).

    For convenience, put baby things in separate bags, place each of them in a separate bag with your “maternity” things, and sign them so that you don’t confuse them later in a hurry.

    It should be said that each individual maternity hospital has its own internal rules and regulations. It is likely that on the first day you will not be allowed to bring any personal items with you: already in the hospital, you and the newborn will be given sterile clothes and necessary supplies. Or the maternity hospital has its own approved list of things for the child - compare it with this and correct it. The list may differ depending on whether your maternity hospital practices cohabitation of the mother with the newborn or not.

    All these questions should be clarified in advance if you already know where you will give birth. In any case, it is better to prepare and think everything through in advance to the smallest detail than to drive a dumbfounded daddy around the shops and try to explain what you need. Moreover, all children's things must first be washed with a special children's hypoallergenic phosphate-free powder and ironed on both sides, dousing them with steam. Regarding the size of things from the first children's wardrobe, then take the 56-62nd.
