Wreath decoration for the new year. DIY Christmas wreath, master classes and ideas for making a New Year's wreath step by step

To create a New Year's mood, in addition to the traditional Christmas tree, there is a long-standing custom to hang a Christmas wreath on the door. This tradition came to us from Western countries, and not so long ago. Such a decoration was considered unusual and exotic, and now the Christmas symbol decorates the house of almost every family.

The traditional decoration is made from branches of a Christmas tree and four candles and is attached to the front door or placed on the festive table. But how to make a Christmas wreath with your own hands, we will tell you today.

How did Christmas wreaths come about?

New Year's wreaths appeared thanks to Johann Hinrich Wiehern, a Lutheran theologian who raised children who came from poor families. During the fasting period, they often asked Johann whether it would come soon. To help poor children, in 1839 he invented a wheel wreath and decorated it with nineteen small and four large candles. Every morning, one small candle was lit in the wreath made by Vikherny, and on Sunday a large one, thus counting the time until the holiday.

What does the symbolism of the Christmas wreath mean?

In a wreath, the presence of light and fire (the light of the world) is considered an obligatory attribute. This symbolizes the approaching holiday - the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Christmas wreath has a round shape, decorated with sprigs of spruce, ribbons and candles. The circle is considered a symbol of immortality (eternal life), and four candles are the illumination of the world, green spruce branches are itself.

According to tradition, when making a symbol of Christmas, two colors should be used - three candles are purple and one is pink.

How to make a Christmas wreath with your own hands?

To date, the stores offer a wide selection of New Year's wreaths. They are made of different materials: artificial spruce branches, fabric, knitted ornaments and other items. A huge selection of jewelry will allow you to choose one or another model that will appeal to you.

Despite such a variety, more and more people prefer to make jewelry on their own, showing their own imagination and creativity. If you are thinking about how to make a wreath for Christmas with your own hands, then do not think that it is very difficult. The process of making such an ornament is very reverent, because in its creation a person puts the kindest thoughts, and is in anticipation of the long-awaited.

  • Tapes of different colors.
  • Paint and brushes.

Making your own Christmas wreath at home is not that difficult! It is quite simple to make it, the main thing is patience and a little imagination, and this holiday will become unforgettable for your whole family.

It is unlikely that anyone will remember now what a Christmas wreath of spruce branches hung on the front door means, especially since in Russia the traditions and attributes of Christmas were replaced by New Year's with Soviet overtones almost 100 years ago.

DIY Christmas wreaths

Originally, the Christmas wreath was nothing more than a calendar! And on the eve of Christmas, the Hamburg theologian Johann Hinrich Wiecher came up with the idea to light a small red candle on a spruce wreath, symbolizing the weekday, and a large white one, meaning Sunday, every morning. The fact is that his little children constantly asked their father when Christmas would come. That is why he decided to put such an unusual calendar on the table, which later became one of the symbols of the holiday, moving to the front door to meet guests.

But despite the fact that this decoration is currently considered Western, gradually Russian needlewomen are mastering its manufacture, and not only in the usual technique and from familiar materials, but also from everything that only the soul desires.

Christmas wreath of branches

A Christmas wreath made from coniferous branches is a traditional variation of this holiday decoration.

If you have any doubts about which branches it is best and most correct to make a Christmas wreath, then there really are no strict regulations here, simply because the tradition of making a wreath itself has undergone significant changes several times during its existence.

From cardboard we cut out a ring of the size that our future wreath will be. Next, you need to make the frame voluminous, for this you need thick paper. Squeezing and twisting the paper, we tie it with twine or wire to a cardboard ring. The design should turn out to be quite dense and even, so you should additionally walk the rope along its entire diameter, tightening and compacting the paper.

  • Then attach the branches to the frame.

The spruce branch must be disassembled into shorter ones and then attached to each of them with wire, rope or glue of your choice to the frame. The branches should be fixed in the same direction, as well as immediately fill in the white places so that the design looks more natural and beautiful.

  • In conclusion, you need to decorate the wreath.

For decorating a Christmas wreath, you can choose from:

  • cones;
  • Christmas balls;
  • walnut shells;
  • dried rowan berries;
  • satin ribbons, etc.

You can decorate a wreath with anything. The main thing is to decide in advance on the color scheme (usually spruce branches are decorated in red colors), and not overdo it, leaving the opportunity to admire the needles that you so diligently attached to the frame. Also, do not forget that all parts must be glued literally tightly for safety reasons, especially if there are small children in the house.

The option of making a Christmas wreath on a cardboard ring is not the only one possible. Perhaps for someone it will seem more acceptable and simple way to make a wreath on a wire frame.

For such a wreath you will need:

  • wire, for example, aluminum;
  • branches of a coniferous plant;
  • rope or thin wire;
  • glue gun;
  • elements for decoration.

The procedure for making a wreath based on wire:

  • We twist the wire into a ring of the desired diameter. Depending on the softness of the wire, we wrap it one or more times for the hardness of the structure.
  • We begin to fasten spruce branches with a thin wire or rope to a thick wire frame. The branches are attached in one direction, for example, clockwise, and overlap. The more branches there are, the richer and more beautiful the wreath itself will be.
  • We decorate the resulting wreath with any decorations of your choice, not forgetting to attach them with a glue gun for reliability.

Only cardboard or only wire frames may not be very strong or too flexible, so you can use an option that combines the advantages of each of them to make a frame for a Christmas wreath.

Christmas wreaths from improvised materials

Losing its original meaning over time, the Christmas wreath acquires more and more new performance, which sometimes seems to have nothing to do with either New Year or Christmas.

Only the shape of the circle remains unchanged, without which the wreath would cease to be one.

In addition to the calendar designation of the expectation of the birth of Christ, the wreath acquired new meanings, which stemmed from its round shape. A wreath lying on a table with four candles was associated with the globe and the indicated cardinal points. In addition, the circle is a symbol of the wheel or eternal life, which will give the Resurrection of Christ.

One way or another, there are many options for the execution of this Christmas decoration, each of which is easy to repeat yourself and then decorate your home for the holiday.

From tinsel

The tinsel Christmas wreath most of all resembles a wreath of spruce twigs, which is why it is in second place in terms of preferences in making this holiday idea.

To make such a wreath, you will need to make a frame according to one of the options described above, namely on the basis of a cardboard or wire ring. Whatever frame you choose, it will need to be reinforced with newspapers in order for the wreath to be voluminous, to create the illusion of splendor of the decoration.

Then the base must be literally wrapped with tinsel, avoiding gaps, and in order for the rain to hold well, fix its ends on the frame of the wreath with liquid nails (glue gun). After the base is decorated with tinsel, you can attach any decorations you like to your taste. Usually they use red satin ribbons and balls on a green background.

From cones

To make a wreath of cones you will need:

  • cardboard and newsprint for the frame;
  • cones of any size;
  • glue gun;
  • cans of paint on request.

To make a Christmas wreath from cones at home, you need to cut a cardboard ring, the diameter of which corresponds to the future wreath. Twisting, attach newspaper sheets to a cardboard ring, creating volume. And then you need to glue the cones one by one to the resulting base so that there are no gaps left. Small round cones should be fastened close to each other, oblong cones are best glued with an overlap, just like spruce branches. If desired, the finished wreath or each cone individually can be painted over with gold, white or silver paint from a spray can before gluing. Of course, a cone-based Christmas wreath can also be used with other elements, such as ribbons or dried rowan berries.

From sweets

A Christmas candy wreath in execution is practically no different from a wreath of cones. The main task in its manufacture is to stock up on enough of your favorite sweets and stick them to the frame so that they are easy to unfold and eat. That is why, in this case, candies in foil and those in which a candy wrapper is tied on top of a pyramid candy are best suited.

From paper

A paper Christmas wreath can be made in several ways:

  • String mugs on a wire frame, for example, from corrugated. The more details are strung and the lighter and more openwork the paper from which they are made, the more airy and delicate the wreath looks.
  • Glue paper elements to the frame, like cones or candies before. Such a wreath is remarkable in that paper figures can depict anything, forming together, for example, a biblical story.
  • Paste over a purchased foam frame with one layer, say, newspapers and attach a few paper flowers or other details. Such a wreath looks very conceptual and will perfectly complement the design interior of a modern young man's city apartment.

From Christmas balls

It is perhaps the easiest way to make a Christmas wreath out of Christmas balls. For this you will need:

  • wire and a tool for bending it (for example, pliers);
  • glue gun;
  • a large number of Christmas balls of different sizes.

How to make a balloon wreath:

  • For security purposes and for the strength of the structure, it is worth gluing Christmas balls at the docking point with a metal suspension. So the ball will be guaranteed to be attached to the wire, it will not fall and will not break at the most inopportune moment.
  • Then you need to round the wire, but do not rush to link it into a ring.
  • We begin to string balls on a wire, like beads on a thread, with the only difference being that there should be a lot of balls and they should all “look” in different directions, making the wreath “magnificent”. When all the balls are strung, we make a hitch from the ends of the wire, similar to a loop in a chain. You can cover it with a satin ribbon bow. The wreath is ready!

Rustic

If you plan to hang a Christmas wreath in a country style interior, then you can use this option.

For this design, you can use natural materials: burlap, cones, jute ropes.

The basis of such a wreath can be made from a cardboard circle or from wire twisted along a certain diameter.

If you are working with cardboard, then just glue small pieces of burlap on it, folded, as in the photo. You can make the decor and a solid canvas, making drapery from burlap and gluing it in the right places.

If your wreath is made of wire, then you can use a synthetic winterizer (or ordinary newspapers) to wind and add volume, on top of which you can wind strips of burlap or other natural matter in a spiral.

As a decor for such a country wreath, cones painted with white acrylic paint, jute bows and figurines of Christmas trees and deer cut out of colored cardboard are used.

This Christmas wreath will be a great addition to a rustic-style room.

Christmas wreath in eco style

The ecological design of the interior during the New Year holidays will be emphasized by a wreath made of vines.

This decoration can be done in just a matter of minutes. We will need:

  • pre-harvested vine;
  • Christmas tree branches;
  • cones;
  • acorns;
  • berries, small apples;
  • ribbons made of natural fabric.

Twist several rods of the vine, giving them the shape of a circle. You can strengthen the structure if you wrap the rods with a strong thread or an additional thin branch of the vine.

Then use the glue gun to attach the decorative elements. These can be ordinary pine or spruce cones, pine needles, acorns, rose hips, etc.

Of course, you need to take care of creating such a wreath in advance, back in the fall, having prepared everything you need.

Beautiful bows made of natural materials will perfectly complement the composition.

Using the example of several master classes, it is easy to see that making a Christmas wreath at home is not so difficult. In order to enjoy your wreath for more than a year, you need:

  • Pay great attention to the base of the wreath. A strong frame that does not lose shape when dropped or pressed is half the battle.
  • Stock up on enough material for decoration. Whatever you choose - twigs, cones or sweets - it is better if there are a lot of them than not enough. It is important to endure the concept to the end, leaving no voids on the wreath.
  • Do not make a dump out of a wreath. If you are not confident in your ability to beautifully combine a large number of details, it is better to use only three elements as a basis, for example, twigs, ribbons and balls or twigs, cones and beads.

Following these tips and using master classes, you will certainly be able to please yourself and your loved ones with beautiful and high-quality, which will decorate your door not only this year.

It turns out that there are a lot of ideas to make such a craft, as it turned out. Consider a couple of them that I managed to find. Take thick cardboard and cut a wheel out of it. Then wrap it under wrapping paper or cloth.

Then put on music paper or colored paper bags and decorate the rim (glue it to the workpiece).

Any certain New Year's silhouette, for example, a twig or a bow, will give completeness.

From such a soft foam or polystyrene tube, you can first figure out a circle, and then decorate it, wrap it with a cotton cloth. Then tie with tinsel or use feathers.

And in the middle hang a plywood snowflake or

For children of a kindergarten or school, I suggest considering the option of wire and any fabric. Twist the wire into a ring, and then tie strips of fabric of different colors on it.

You can take a regular satin ribbon and tie bows.

And now, another treasure of chenille wire. This can be purchased at a fixed price or in the department for needlework and creativity.

There is also an option to make the wreath glowing, imagine how cool it will look like.

Wreaths for the New Year from all sorts of things: 15 ideas

I would also like to show you ideas that may push you to the next masterpieces. I liked very much wreaths of balloons, as well as dry twigs and candied fruits.

But an interesting craft from pop food, they came up with it, thanks to the authors for the novelty!

Here in this one we see cones and other artificial fruits. It turns out that the wreath was woven from an ordinary newspaper, and then they simply hid it in organza and wrapped it in tinsel.

The next work is made of dry twigs and decorated with balls and a bow.

In addition, you can use candles, although in this case the wreath cannot be hung, but simply put on the table and used as a candlestick.

Decoration in the form of a wreath of spruce cones (detailed master class)

I offer another novelty that you can easily build yourself from improvised means. Take a look at the photo, I'm sure you have all this in your house, especially now, when winter is in full swing.

First decide on the size of the wreath, then draw a circle on the cardboard and another one on it, cut out such a shape, in the form of a ring.

Then tie the ring with tinsel, glue the cones and tie the bows.

Do this all using a glue gun or regular instant glue. Balls, plastic houses will also fit nicely if you stick them on the product.

Then rewind it with masking tape and plain paper.

So that the wreath becomes voluminous and, as it were, magnificent.

Cut the leaf into strips.

Each strip is folded several times and make frequent cuts.

Fold the flexible wire in half and start putting the workpiece on it, so that you get a twig.

Insert the wire into the inside of the strip.

Make the required number of such branches, for example 5-6 pieces. And from them already decorate the ring.

Glue the cones in a circle and tie a bow.

Here is another example, use it:

New Year's wreath sewn from felt + patterns

An unusual work can be a product using ordinary fabric. Felt or foamiran is well suited here. The fact is that it is these species that are not sprinkled and cut with scissors easily, just what you need!

Take any round base so that there is a hole inside, as shown here:

Here is such a creation turned out, our heroine, and you? Share in the comments.

Or you can cut the felt into circles, then fold each one in half and in half again and secure with a needle, and then stick it on the polystyrene foam base.

In addition to everything, you can decorate wreaths with flowers, because any holiday, even Christmas or New Year is no exception, does not cancel this attribute.

Take the base again and wrap it with burlap or linen.

After each petal, sew with a thread, as if making a recess, and then sew them to the flower.

This is what the output should look like.

And then they ate live twigs.

And of course satin or decorative ribbons and cones.

Christmas wreath made of knitted yarn

Now turn on your imagination and decorate the wire with tinsel and balls. Glue all the components to the glue with a hot gun. Or if there are holes on the balls of the desired diameter, then simply pass them through the wire.

Balls can not even be glued, but simply use threads and tie them to the workpiece.

This is such a charm, you can make it multi-colored.

And for completeness, use a bow, which you tie where the loop is, for which you will hang the craft. hide it).

Here is another work, also exclusively red, it is he who should prevail in such works in the first place.

Festive wreaths of tinsel and sweets

Another interesting idea is to make crafts using edible things. After all, sweets are always brightly packaged and gleam, so I think that you will like this charm too. Well, cut the stencil out of the cardboard again. Glue the tape, fold it in the form of a loop.

Then rewind the sample with tinsel, fix the end with glue. Glue the candies to the cardboard, that is, their tips.

Tell VK

Greetings, my dears. Today I will continue the theme of decorating the home for the New Year. last year I wrote a detailed article about manufacturing. But, I found many more ideas on this topic. Therefore, today we make Christmas wreaths with our own hands from different materials. Consider how they can be knitted from branches, yarn, glued from sweets, paper, etc. I will give a lot of master classes.

Wreaths have become popular in Russia not so long ago, but they have already taken root. Needless to say, their homeland is Europe.

They are a very beautiful decor and just a huge field for creativity.

When the house smells of resins and pine needles, the mood immediately rises. That is why it is customary to put up Christmas trees. But you can do without it by borrowing twigs from this forest beauty.

They need to take those that are livelier and have a lot of needles. By the way, ask the sellers of Christmas trees, they often cut off the lower branches and sell them too.

How to make a wreath out of them? But now I’ll tell you in detail, and even share master classes.

When you bought twigs, they need to be sorted. Divide them into sticks and the branches themselves.

Then carefully twist the ring from the sticks. It is better to fix them with wire. But advice. just take a ring of foam or paper and attach branches to it. This will be easier, because the sticks themselves are prickly, and they don’t often want to take a round shape.

Then we weave our beautiful and fluffy branches into the base.

I immediately draw your attention to the fact that since we use natural material, your hands will be in resin. And it's pretty hard to wash off.

So, the option of making jewelry on a wire. It is more convenient to weave branches not one at a time, but immediately with a bunch.

Take a round double wire ring as a basis.

Then we fold a bouquet of 3-5 branches, tie the base with threads and put it on the ring. We try to get the base between the wires. We fix with a thinner wire or thread.

The wreath does not have to be hung on a wall or door, it will also look beautiful on the table as a decoration.

It is better to decorate it with natural material: candied fruits, dried oranges, cones and deludes, as well as cinnamon and cloves.

Master class for making a New Year's wreath from tinsel

The easiest way is to make a wreath of tinsel. It can be done in several ways. The main thing is that you must definitely choose fluffy tinsel. Otherwise, the craft will look sparse.

Option 1.

  • wire,
  • tinsel,
  • sweater or tights, cut into strips,
  • decor.

We roll a thick ring from the wire. It should keep its shape well.

Then we wrap it with shreds of clothing or fabric.

We wrap tinsel on top of it, pressing the turns close to each other. Be sure to secure the edges with wire or thread. Otherwise, the wreath will fall apart.

Option number 2.

  • newspaper,
  • White paper,
  • tulle,
  • tinsel,
  • decor.

From the newspaper we form a ring. We are trying to roll it so that it becomes dense and does not bend under its own weight.

Wrapped in white paper. It can be replaced with cobweb, corrugated paper or fabric.

We wrap tinsel on top. Tape the edges well to the base with tape.

It remains only to decorate the craft.

Option number 3.

  • cardboard,
  • tinsel,
  • coffees.

The cardboard needs to be thick. If you think that it is too thin, then cut out of it not one, but two or three parts. Then glue them together.

Cut out a ring from cardboard. We immediately think about how we will hang our wreath and glue a loop of braid or twine to it.

We begin to wrap the ring with tinsel. We fix the edges well with tape or wire.

We take sweets and glue them to the base with adhesive tape. Alternating with coils of tinsel.

Here's what happens. Candies can be replaced with balls or cones.

Some ideas with tinsel for inspiration!

We make from felt, I apply patterns

Now let's see what can be done from felt. I really liked the idea of fabric poinsettia. This is the most New Year and Christmas flower. And we will make it from felt.

For one flower, cut out the details according to this pattern.

You need one flower and 5 petals.

Glue the petals onto the base in the center with hot glue or super glue.

Flatten the leaves at the end.

Decorate the middle with beads or beads.

This is how the blanks are obtained.

Now we cut out a ring from cardboard and fasten the flowers in random order. Between them you can put ribbons, cones, balls and Christmas tree branches.

Here is another felt wreath pattern.

You can take any toys, the main thing is that there is a New Year theme. For example, we will attach this felt Santa Claus to the base of the wreath.

The base can also be made of fabric. To do this, cut out two rings from the fabric. We sew them together. Turn inside out and stuff with cotton wool or padding polyester. And we will decorate with Frost and a deer made of felt.

The base can simply be wrapped with yarn.

To make such a wreath, I also give patterns.

In general, crafts can be voluminous with stuffing, or they can be simple flat ones. Depends on your skill and available time.

A simple idea from knitted yarn, knit crochet

It is very simple and quick to tie the warp with knitted yarn. To do this, you will need the ability to make single crochets. And you need to take a base made of cardboard or plywood, yarn and a hook.

First, we form a loop from the thread, insert a hook into it and stretch it through the workpiece to the thread. Then we make a single crochet.

And so we tie the whole ring.

This is how it should turn out.

If you want a more openwork wreath, then check out this master class. Here the girl shows how to apply double crochets on the above basis.

If you have been crochet for a long time, then here are some more ideas for you.

Using yarn or the same knitting threads, you can weave a “braid” pattern and make such beauty out of it.

If you have a foam wreath blank. Then just wrap it with yarn. Choose bright, festive colors and combine the turns with each other. Be sure to fix the ends.

You can also put on the sleeves of an old sweater on such a foam base. And you will get a wreath very quickly.

A very interesting idea for a simple scarf decoration.

From simple threads, you can also tie a wreath.

I see no point in showing all the options that I found on the Internet. After all, having understood the essence, everyone will make their own individual decor.

Master class for making a wreath of cones with your own hands

Of course, we will not be left without cones. A lot of interesting things come out of them. You can take both pine and spruce cones. Of course, they are different in appearance, but the craft will only benefit from this.

Cut out a ring from cardboard. Let's give it a volume on one side with the help of paper sheets.

So, take a lot of paper and form a circle out of it. To prevent the sheets from unfolding, wrap it with twine.

Now, in random order, we plant the cones on the base using a thermo gun.

For decoration, take nuts, candied fruits, vanilla sticks. Or just tint some bumps with gouache. This will give the impression that they are covered with snow.

The back can be draped with fabric or crepe paper.

Now I'll show you how you can make a similar craft using only one type of cone.

To get the same as in the figure, the cones must be placed on the ring in rows. We do the very foundation in the same way as in the upper master class.

The craft with illumination or a garland looks very nice.

A special rigid base for a wreath is also sold. If you have one lying around, then here is a master class on how to use it.

Did you know that if you put the cones in water, they will open.

Also, for decoration, the cones can be covered with artificial snow and sparkles. This is all sold in hardware stores and departments for creativity.

Making a Christmas candy wreath with the kids

Those with a sweet tooth will definitely want to participate in the creation of such a delicious and alluring wreath.

It can also be done in different ways. The easiest option is to glue or tie the candies together.

A more difficult option is to string sweets on wire hangers. To do this, take the shoulders, pull the lower part towards you. So we will stretch the circle, and it will be very convenient to hang the craft on the hook.

Now the most time-consuming - you need to tie each candy with tape to this wire ring. Ask the kids to help you, otherwise you will waste a lot of time.

Do not spare sweets, you may need from 2 kg. But, it is important that the craft is magnificent.

Another way to create a sweet decoration is to glue the candies to the cardboard base using a heat gun.

The same idea, but with large oblong candies.

The wreath can be of any size. If there are not enough sweets, then first lay out a circle of them on paper. To understand what diameter of the ring you need to cut.

Christmas paper wreath

Now we will make a wreath already from paper poinsettia. Above, we made it from felt. You can also take that master class as a basis. But now I will show a slightly different technique for creating these beautiful flowers.

  1. From paper, you need to cut three parts according to the template below. We make folds on the petals in the middle and curl the ends a little with a pencil.

We connect the blanks into one flower.

Here is the diagram for this flower.

As a result, you can get such a wreath.

2. Now take toilet paper and paper towel rolls.

Paint them green and dry. Now we will apply strips on each of them, 1 cm wide. And cut all the blanks. We will get a lot of cardboard parts. From them we will form flowers. It is convenient to fix the parts themselves with each other with a thermo gun.

Lay out a circle from the resulting flower, not forgetting to glue the edges.

3. Here is a simple idea for a paper wreath with stars.

The first step is to cut out an even ring of cardboard. This can be done with a compass or as shown in the photo. Namely, you need to take two pencils. measure the length of the thread, equal to the radius of the circle with allowances. Allowances will go to tying pencils. Now we put one of them in the center, and the second we draw a circle.

The cut out cardboard part must be wrapped with paper. We will first shake it with our hands to give volume.

It remains to cut out the stars and stick them on the base.

4. This master class shows that the ring was made without a compass, but simply by attaching two plates of different diameters to the cardboard.

Decorate with paper leaves.

5. I also liked the idea with three-dimensional stars. Also, as above, we make the base-ring. We wrap it with zhamka paper.

And then we cut out the stars, as shown in the diagram and bend all the beams exactly in the middle.

As inspiration, I suggest you make a craft from the silhouettes of children's hands.

Or from snowflakes.

A very beautiful craft will turn out from voluminous paper snowflakes.

Fragrant wreath with oranges and tangerines

Not so long ago I saw the idea of a gift craft made of tangerines and oranges. After all, it is their smells that are associated with the New Year. Therefore, I hasten to show you how you can make this fruit wreath, which can even be used as a gift.

For such beauty, you need to take at least 8 pieces of tangerines. You will also need a transparent packaging film and braid or tape.

On the expanded film we will lay out all the tangerines that you want to use for crafts. So we will determine how long we need to cut off from it. The width should completely cover the tangerine.

We wrap our fruits in this segment. To prevent the film from unfolding, we glue it with tape at the edges.

Now we need to use a braid, thread or twine to separate each fruit from its neighbor.

We turn the resulting workpiece into a ring and fix the edges.

You can decorate this craft with cones, felt elements or branches.

Tangerines can also be cut into thin circles and dried.

It will turn out a very fragrant decor for any type of wreath. Orange circles are combined with all materials.

How to make a decoration with Christmas toys

Crafts with Christmas toys look very festive. Let's consider the most simple version of making such a wreath.

Let's take:

  • Christmas balls in two colors
  • hanger,
  • fir branches
  • decor.

And we need the same notorious wire hanger.

It again needs to be straightened and shaped into a circle.

To be honest, I couldn't get it to work on my own. Therefore, my husband helped with pliers.

We put our balls on the free edge. They can be alternated in shades or colors. It is better to take the toys themselves in small sizes and try to hang them very tightly.

Now we take the branches, tie them and attach a wire loop to their ends. We string it after the balls on the open end.

It remains only to twist both ends so that the wreath does not fall apart and we go to decorate the room.

Video on how to make a wreath from newspaper tubes

Since I myself have never wove crafts from newspaper tubes, but I know that there is such an idea. I offer you a master class in video format. Where the master tells in detail how you can weave such magical beauty.

I think that it may not work the first time, because you need to adapt to work with a paper vine. But with due care and attention, everything should work out.

Ideas for New Year's wreaths from improvised materials

Now I want to combine many different MKs in one section. We will make wreaths from various improvised materials. You will definitely find something for yourself here!

Wreath of discs

Let's take the most ordinary and few people need disks now. So that they do not roll, we will make a decor out of them.

You can take cardboard or plywood 5 mm thick as a basis.

Along the entire circumference of the ring, we begin to glue the discs with a thermo gun.

If you have a lot of disks, you can make a second and third layer.

It remains only to decorate the craft with New Year's decor.

Clothespin wreath

Clothespins are now also not only used in everyday life, but also actively participate in creativity.

So, we cut out a ring from cardboard, 15 cm in diameter. We paint it with green gouache and dry it.

We paint the clothespins with the same gouache and also dry them by pinning them to the box.

Now we take the wire, turn it into a circle and distribute clothespins over it. They can be pinned next to each other, or they can be alternated with beads, balls or bows.

A wreath of ice cream sticks caught my eye. I don't think it would be difficult to repeat this idea.

Pompom wreath

Very elegant and fluffy, it turns out such a handsome man from pompons. Easy to do, looks amazing.

You need to take a cardboard base, yarn, threads, scissors and a needle.

We will make pompoms in two sizes - 7 and 5 cm.

To do this, we take yarn and cut off threads from it, 7 cm long. At least 15 pieces are needed for each pompom. We tie them together with a thread and fluff them.

We make two holes in the cardboard with a thick needle, into which we will stretch the ends of the pom-pom threads and tie them from the wrong side.

We will make the sides of the wreath from small parts with a thread length of 5 cm.

We tie a small workpiece next to a large one.

Rows of two pompoms should be repeated every 3 cm.

Of course, it's not very fast. But it turns out very nice.

Based on this technique, you can make such a version of the wreath.

And one of the pompom snowmen.

Wreaths of fabric and yarn

There are many ideas for wrapping the warp-ring with cloth and yarn. Let's see what comes out of this.

First, let's see what happens from burlap.

By repeating this idea, but already from a strip of fabric, you can get this version of the craft.

You can not wrap, but cover the base with a cloth.

Or just wrap the base with yarn. By the way, the winding from Travka will look very nice here. there is a kind of yarn.

Now I bring an idea from tulle.

We will need a lot of scraps of this fabric. We fold them and impregnate the fold in PVA glue. Then we fix the blanks on the base.

Another technique for creating a tulle wreath. We cut the material into thin long strips (5 * 12 cm) and tie them around the entire perimeter of the ring.

Based on this technique, such crafts are obtained.

This idea inspired me a lot.

It is also very easy to make a wreath of cotton pads. See how easy it is!

It is tedious to roll the disk in half, then in half again. And sew the bottom fold with a needle so that the workpiece does not fall apart.

We fix these blanks on the finished foam ring and enjoy the beautiful snow-white decor.

A lot of bows will also make beauty.

To make them you need wire and braid.

We tie bows on the wire, placing them close to each other.

Wreaths from plastic bottles

We need only the bottoms of the bottles. To make it elegant, they can be taken in different colors.

So, the bottom can be left in the same form as you and the cuts, or you can give the cut a zigzag shape.

We make holes in the center. And from the wire we make a ring.

Now we turn the two parts towards each other with petals and in this position we string them onto the base.

We distribute them very closely relative to each other.

You can also just plant them alternately one after the other.

From pasta

Pasta products are very malleable. They come in different sizes and shapes and are therefore great for crafts. And yes, they are quite economical.

On any basis, purchased, cardboard, fabric or paper, we glue spirals, butterflies or shells.

Best of all they will hold on hot glue. But you can take liquid nails and super glue. When you fix all the products on the base, then paint it with spray paint.

I also liked the fur decor. See how self-sufficient and chic it looks.

You can make it even easier, just buy a lot of packaging bows.

From traffic jams

Some masters came up with a very interesting idea to make decor from corks. I bring two master classes.

The first option involves two turns.

The second option is also easy. But you just need a lot of plugs.

If you have a foam base, then you can use a toothpick to fix the parts.

Here's what comes out of this material.

We also get festive decor from cocktail tubes!

From photos

Such decoration will remain in your house not only for the holiday period. After all, memories that are presented in photographs fit in this decor.

To maintain style, it is better to take black and white pictures. They will look like one.

History of the Christmas wreath

The tradition of decorating front doors or a festive table with a Christmas wreath is slowly taking root in countries that historically profess Orthodoxy. However, the meaning of this symbol should be correctly understood.
Many consider a wreath, like an elegant Christmas tree, an indispensable attribute of the New Year. Although this is not entirely true. The tradition of decorating a house with a circle of fir branches with candles came to us from Western countries, where they celebrate Christmas on a large scale, which falls on December 25th.
The first Christmas wreath for his little pupils was made by the Lutheran theologian from Hamburg, Johann Wiehern. The children were so looking forward to the holiday that they kept asking if it was already Christmas. It was then that the symbol was born, denoting Advent (the period of fasting, waiting and preparing for the Nativity of Christ) - the Christmas wreath.

Wikhern's wreath was a circle of spruce branches fixed on a wooden wheel, and 24 small and 4 large candles inserted into them. Every day, the children lit one candle (large candles were lit on Sundays) and thus could calculate how many days were left before the holiday.
The idea of decorating the house with a Christmas wreath was so much to the taste of Western Christians that it quickly spread and took root.
Today, Christmas has transformed from a religious holiday into a beautiful family holiday, the rules for which are no longer so strict.
A Christmas wreath can be without candles, decorated with Christmas toys, ribbons, bells, fir cones, beads. And you can place it not only on a horizontal surface, but also on the front door or walls.
Someone will say that the Christmas wreath is a tradition alien to Orthodoxy, however, in Orthodox churches, icons for the holiday are decorated with elegant spruce compositions. All religions and earthly cultures are intertwined, flowing from one to another.
So why not start a tradition of making a beautiful Christmas wreath for the holiday in your family? This is what we will do today!

Preparation of materials

The uniqueness of making a Christmas wreath with your own hands lies in the fact that the modern design of premises for the holidays consists in the selection of a specific color scheme, so you can choose elements that will harmoniously combine with your wishes.
I chose the color scheme red with gold. Decorative elements - red bows, beads, ribbon, bells, golden cones, deer figurine, small bell, balls, pendant, artificial green spruce twigs.

The choice of decorative elements is now very diverse, both in colors and in figurines. You can use worn-out souvenirs, parts of Christmas tree decorations.

Progress

From an ordinary cardboard box, you need to cut a circle with a clerical knife. The diameter of the outer circle of our wreath is 35 cm. Of course, you can choose the size according to your wishes, make it bigger or smaller.

It turned out a cardboard rim - the basis for a wreath.
Next, you need to wrap this bezel with tinsel of the required color. On the basis of this size, it took 4 ribbons of tinsel, 1 meter long. We fix the ends of the tinsel with a stapler.

Next, wrap a decorative red ribbon around the rim. You can take satin, but in my work I use gift wrapping. We also fix the tip with a stapler.

We connect the two ends of the tape with transparent tape.

In the gaps between the ribbon we place a gold-colored Christmas tree pendant, which is a snowflake connected to each other. We put the tips on hot glue.

Next, glue the decorative elements with a glue gun - first, artificial Christmas tree branches.

Next, on the right side, we place a red bow, golden leaves, a small golden gift and cones. Here at this stage you can show your imagination, creativity and creative approach.

On the left side are golden branches.

We glue the gold-colored reindeer, which has become a symbol of the New Year, and small bells.

And in the center of the wreath we fix two red bells with a stapler - Christmas decorations. Can place Christmas star, angel, snowflakes.

Our Christmas wreath is ready!
