Earrings "Ganutel" do-it-yourself

The history of the origin of the popular technique "Ganutel" originates from the monks of the Mediterranean Sea.

Tools for work:

  • Wire (50 cm), or wire spiral (4-5 cm), wire for beads is acceptable.
  • Wire with a diameter of 3 mm, length 20 cm;
  • For decor (beads, beads, colored threads, etc.);
  • Pliers and pliers tools.

Making Earrings

In the absence of a finished spiral, we make it. Tightly wind the wire around the knitting needle with a diameter of 4mm. Next, we release the finished spiral from the knitting needle and stretch it out a little, increasing it 3 times in length.

We thread a thick wire into the center of the spring, creating the basis of the desired geometric shape. We twist the ends of the wires.

We fix the end at the top of the base, and wind the thread in the desired order (vertically or horizontally), but following the rule, the thread should fit into each turn of the spiral.

By winding the thread, you can decorate to taste by threading beads or glass beads into it.

We tie the thread with high quality, and with the help of wire cutters we bite off a thick wire, and twist it in a thin spiral, make a loop out of it. Having picked up a bead of the desired color, we attach it to the fastener.

Improvised means for making exclusive earrings

From fabric

To make long earrings with your own hands, the following materials are needed: fabric (ribbon, braid), scissors, wire, beads and beads, tools (nippers, pliers).

  • We cut obliquely 10 cm of the wire, for a more convenient puncture of the material;
  • We process the ends of the fabric with fire so that they do not sprinkle. We thread the wire into the tape (braid), stitches 2 mm long;
  • From two edges of the material, we thread beads of the desired color;
  • Carefully twist the wire with pliers;
  • We remove the twists into beads, construct a loop from a metal thread and fasten a fastener on it.

Thread earrings

Do-it-yourself brush earrings with the help of threads are not at all difficult to make. Necessary tools colored threads (mulina), narrow ribbons, wire, scissors, pliers, wire cutters. The color of the threads is selected based on taste preferences.

We make cuts from threads of 10 cm each thread. In the center we wrap with wire, very tightly. Twist the wire with pliers, and remove the excess with wire cutters. We hide the twisted metal thread in the product, fasten the ring.

We bend the threads in half, and wrap them tightly in the center with wire several times (about 5 times). We make a tight twist with pliers and hide the earrings inside. Carefully align the threads with scissors. You can hide a twist under the beads. Another original set is ready!

Wood is a warm, pleasant, lively material... Wooden jewelry is light, warm and almost never goes out of fashion! wooden earrings- it is stylish, original and eco-friendly.

As an idea for decorating new earrings - our master class. The whole process took 15 minutes!
Let's start?!

Materials:
- wooden blanks for earrings; it is very convenient if the workpiece will have factory through holes, on which we will be able to fix the fittings in the future.
- acrylic varnish in spray; it is recommended to use a spray so that the varnish does not flow into the holes and the product does not look more aesthetically pleasing.
- acrylic paint;
- tompovka; This is a device for applying paint in a more even layer. The brush will give grooves, the paint behind the brush will flow into the holes and the work will look like a children's craft. By the way, the factory tampovka can be successfully replaced with an ordinary household sponge.
- acrylic contours: gold, black, white mother-of-pearl; contours can be used by any company. In this work, the contours of the company DECOLA were used. Compared to a brush, the contour gives a more three-dimensional image.
- fasteners; this is the basis for earrings, in fact, these are hooks that hold the earring on the earlobe.
- two red beads of medium size;
- two huggers of color "Gold"; huggers are a decorative element in jewelry. Usually huggers are used when the hole in the bead is very large and does not look aesthetically pleasing on the product.
- jewelry pins; they are used to connect beads together. A bead is put on a pin, a loop is formed with round-nose pliers and the excess edge is cut off.
- jewelry rings, they are used as connectors.

For decoration we will use wooden carved blanks.

We spray varnish on both sides to prevent leakage into the holes.

We cover both sides of the earrings with red acrylic paint.

We apply a dotted pattern with the “Gold” contour along the surface of the workpiece, between the holes. It turns out a kind of asterisk.

We complement the pattern of earrings around the perimeter of the workpiece with white and black contours. Cover with spray varnish.

With the help of round-nose pliers, we string huggers and a bead on a jewelry pin. We make out the top with a loop.

With the help of rings we connect the workpiece, bead and fastener.
That's all! The new thing - decorated wooden earrings - is ready!

Fig. 1 - Earring "petal" from a tubular blank

How to make wooden earrings with your own hands? We give examples of the manufacture of some original earrings.

Fig. 2 - Earring "Shoe" from a tubular blank

The blank for the earrings shown in fig. 1 and 2, a wooden tube with an internal diameter of about 10 mm, a wall thickness of 2.5-3.0 mm and a length of about 50 mm (for one earring) is used. It’s great if it’s possible to make one on a lathe, however, it doesn’t take long to make it manually - with a drill, a knife or a planer and sandpaper.

Fig. 3 - Cross section of the “Shoe” earring (scale 1: 1)

The section of the “shoe” earring is shown in fig. 3. It is cut with a knife, then polished. As an additional decor, you can limit yourself to a rosette on the front. The socket is made along the contour using a semicircular chisel made from a needle from a medical dropper (Fig. 4).

Fig. 4 - A miniature semicircular chisel from a needle from a medical dropper

Before work, practice on unnecessary pruning! The background around the socket is selected to a depth of no more than 0.3 mm with the tip of a sharp knife. Spherical recesses can be made with a ball dental bur by simply rotating it with your fingers (lightly prick the axes of the recesses with a needle), drill a hole with a diameter of 1 mm for a metal ring at the upper end of the earring. The main thing is not to split the earring in this place during the manufacturing process, and nothing will happen to it during operation, if only because its tensile strength is quite comparable to the strength of the ear in which it is worn.

Fig. 5 - Development of the “petal” earring (scale 1: 1)

The earrings shown in fig. 1 can be called more complex only because one of them has a right-handed turn direction, and the other has a left-handed one. Start manufacturing by building on paper a scan of the outer surface of the tube - a rectangle, the height of which is equal to the height of the tube, and the width is the length of the circle. Now measure from left to right on the upper side three-quarters of its length and connect the resulting point to the lower left corner. Using the resulting line as an axis, draw a petal with a slot on it (Fig. 5).

This will be the template for the right earring, the length of the left one is a mirror image. Make both templates at once and stick them on the blank tubes. To avoid chipping during processing, cover the inner surface of the tubes with two layers of nitro-lacquer - it will strengthen the wood. First, make a cut in the middle of the petal, and then, with a small allowance, cut out the petal itself. Sand the paper together with the glue and finish the contour, paying special attention to the edge: its surface should be smooth, that is, it should not have sharp changes in inclination (turn). If a faded spot is found during the varnishing process, it means that the glue has not been completely removed in this place and the sanding must be repeated.

Fig. 6 - Earring "shell"

Before you take on the “shell” earring (Fig. 6), experiment with a piece of plasticine or clay in search of the most suitable shape, in your opinion. It is convenient to choose the inner cavity with a semicircular chisel not with a straight line, but with a pronounced convex blade line (see). Such a blade allows you to literally “drill” wood.

Fig. 7 - Boron cutter ("cone cutters") and ball grinding "finger"

The bottom of the cavity can be smoothed out with a ball burr (“cone”), rotating it with your fingers and polished with a ball abrasive “finger” (Fig. 7).

The ripples on the surface of the shell are embossed using the rounded tip of a thin awl. It is clear that it is not necessary to fill these holes with varnish flush with the main surface.

Arm yourself with the VersaTip gas tool and the Stylus tool and create your own wooden bead earrings.
