Rectangular frame. Creating frames in Photoshop

In our ever-rushing digital age, sometimes you want to stop, sit in your favorite chair and just relax. It is at such moments that many of us pick up a large one with photographs. When looking at any picture, the thought suddenly arises that it would be nice to put it on a shelf or hang it on the wall. But due to the fact that there is no suitable frame, we again send the photo to lie between the pages of the album. Wait, do not rush and hide the picture, you can create a frame from improvised material. What and how to make a frame? From cardboard. Yes, yes, ordinary cardboard, which can be found in every home.

Cardboard frame - a new activity

So, one cozy evening, flipping through the pages of the album, laughingly telling your child about how once upon a time you were also a baby, you suddenly wanted to leave a couple of pictures in plain sight, enclosing them in an original frame. Creating a paper and cardboard frame will help you pass the evening, besides, this is another great way to teach your child something new and interesting. Feel free to get down to business! Its production will not require large time and financial costs.

Cardboard frame: necessary materials

An elementary do-it-yourself cardboard frame is made using the most common materials, such as cardboard, ribbons, fabric, wallpaper residues, beads, shells brought from a summer vacation, and other items suitable for decor. You will also need scissors, a ruler, a pencil. An interesting solution for decoration can be raw cereals - it can be peas, buckwheat, semolina or any other. How to make a cardboard frame using cereals will be described a little lower, no doubt, many will like this decoration option.

simple frame

To make the simplest frame you will need:

White cardboard;

Decoration items (in this case, beads were used);

Stationery.

Two rectangular blanks are cut out of cardboard. For 10x15 they should be 13.5x18.5 cm. Now in one of them you need to cut out a window, which should be slightly smaller than the picture itself. If desired, a film can be attached to this window on the reverse side, for example, a piece from a transparent file to protect the photo from dust. The picture must be fixed at the corners with thin strips of paper between the blanks, the image in the window. Now you can paste over the blanks with a cloth, decorate with beads. Do not forget to attach a stand to the back of the frame - a triangle cut out of cardboard or a loop to hang it on the wall. This is how easily and quickly a simple frame is made from Agree, even a child can handle it.

A simple frame decorated with groats

Creating such a frame is not at all difficult. The principle of its manufacture is the same as in the previous description. Only the way of decorating changes. Groats are glued to the front blank with the help of PVA. If it is peas, then each pea is glued separately. You can even use semolina, millet, buckwheat. After the glue dries well, the grits must be varnished, allowed to dry, painted in any suitable color and again covered with a layer of varnish. It turns out a very unusual cardboard frame made in the “cereal” technique. Made by hand, it will delight your eyes for a long time.

Scrapbooking frame

This option is somewhat more difficult to perform than the previous ones, and will require a little more time and effort. A cardboard photo frame decorated with fabric looks stylish and rather unusual. To make such a thing you will need:

Scrap paper sheet 30x30 cm;

A piece of scrap paper 10.5x15.5 cm;

Brads (carnations or buttons with a decorative hat);

A small piece of synthetic winterizer;

- Moment Crystal.

To make such a cardboard frame, you need to cut out several details: the front and back sides (24x18.7 and 18.5x13.5 cm in size), the leg (16 cm). The window in the frame is cut out based on the size of the picture. The frame cover is cut out of fabric. When cutting, do not forget to make a small (approx. 1.5 cm) indent from the edge for bends. The front part is cut out of the synthetic winterizer, the one with the window. You can start to form the frame itself. To do this, the front side must be lubricated with a thin layer of glue and the synthetic winterizer is fixed, a prepared fabric is applied on top of it, which must be glued, bending the material to the reverse side, starting from the corners. It should look like a pillow. Now you need to make the middle of the frame, that is, the same window. Carefully, not forgetting about small indents, a rectangle of the required size is cut out, the fabric is folded, glued. To make the frame even more attractive, you can sew its edges on a sewing machine. To decorate the scrap frame, you can use ribbon bows, brads, beads and other small items for decoration. The back side is glued with scrap paper, in turn, a leg is attached to it for stability.

Scrapbooking cardboard photo frames are distinguished from all others by their delicate, extremely attractive design and can serve as a great gift.

Cardboard coffee frame, master class

Necessary materials:

Thick cardboard;

Coffee beans;

Acrylic lacquer;

Stationery;

1. We prepare the basis for the frame. To do this, rectangles, front and back sides are cut out of cardboard. In the front part, depending on the size of the picture, a window is made.

2. The front side is pasted over with a suitable color material.

3. The window for the picture is carefully formed.

5. Coffee beans are glued to the fabric. For this purpose, it is better to use Moment Crystal or liquid nails.

6. After all the grains are glued, you can cover them with two or three layers of varnish with intermediate drying of each layer.

7. A variety of little things can serve as decoration for the frame - such as satin ribbons tied into beautiful bows, figures of coffee cups and spoons.

8. The desired photo is fixed in the window.

9. The front and back are glued together.

10. A rectangle cut out of cardboard will serve as a support for the frame, which is fixed on the back of the product.

Frame with eggshell

You can also decorate the cut out base for the photo frame with eggshells.
It turns out a certain effect of aging with cracks, or a mosaic. Before sticking the shell on the cardboard, it must be properly prepared. First, rinse thoroughly. Secondly, remove all internal films. Thirdly, dry well. Only after such preparation can the shells be painted with acrylic paints in any color, let the paint dry and break the shell into small pieces.

The front side of the future frame must also be painted in a suitable color. It is not necessary to use paint of the same shade. For example, bright pink, bright blue, crimson and white colors are perfectly combined with each other. Playing on their contrast gives a stunningly beautiful result. Shell fragments are glued to the front side in random order, folding into a kind of mosaic. In such a simple way, using improvised material, a do-it-yourself cardboard frame is made.

Good luck with your ideas and success!

With this tutorial, you will learn how to create simple frames for your photos.

I will show you several ways to create different frames, so you can consider that in this one big lesson several are collected on the same topic.

Frame #1. Simple frame-strip.

Despite its simplicity, this frame enhances perception and gives the work a finished look.

Step 1. Let's open our image. Select the entire image by pressing CTRL+A.

A selection box will appear around the image.

Step 2 Choose from the menu Select - Modify - Compress(Selection - Modify - Contract). In the dialog box, select the amount of indent in pixels.

Let's apply the command.

Step 3 Right-click while holding the cursor inside the selected area, and in the menu that appears, select Stroke.

In the dialog box that appears, set the color and width of our strip.

Step 4 We apply the command and get the result.

Don't forget to deselect by pressing CTRL+D.

Frame number 2. Frame with rounded corners inside.

Step 1. Select the Rounded Rectangle tool from the toolbar.

Switch to the contour creation mode (on the top panel of the tool settings)

Step 2 Let's introduce the required corner radius.

Step 3 Let's create a contour with the necessary indents from the edges.

Step 4 Let's convert the path to a selection. Right-click while holding the cursor inside the contour, and in the menu that appears, select Create Selection.

Step 5 Invert the selection with SHIFT+CTRL+I and press CTRL+DEL to fill the selection with the foreground color or ALT+DEL for the background color. Remove selection by pressing CTRL+D.

Frame number 3. jagged edges.

Step 1. We carry out steps 1 and 2 Frame No. 1.

Step 2 quick mask(Quick mask).

Step 3. Apply Filter - Strokes - Airbrush(Filter - Brush Strokes - Sprayed Strokes). Filter settings are selected individually, depending on the image.

Step 4(optional). Apply Filter - Distort - Wave(Filter - Distort - Wave) Parameters are also selected empirically.

Step 5 Exit the Quick Mask mode by pressing Q. Now we have a selection.

Step 6 Invert the selection with SHIFT+CTRL+I and press CTRL+DEL to fill the selection with the background color (white by default) or ALT+DEL for the foreground color (black by default). Remove selection by pressing CTRL+D.

Frame number 4. stepped

Step 1. We carry out steps 1 and 2 Frame No. 1.

Step 2 Press Q to switch to mode quick mask(Quick mask).

Step 3. Apply Filter - Appearance - Fragment(Filter - Pixelate - Fragment).

Step 4 Apply the filter several times by pressing CTRL+F. Usually for a picture of 900x600 pixels, 4-5 times is enough.

Step 5 Repeat steps 5 and 6 of the previous section. We get the result. In this case, I used the default foreground color - black.

I wish you all creative inspiration and success!

Good time of the day, friends!

Unfortunately, I have not decided where to start my lessons, so I will write about what comes to mind and what seems simple to me.

Therefore, I am afraid that the sequence, as such, will not happen.

Now about photo frames in general... I hope you understand what I'm talking about.

For example, I have a photo, and after some processing, I want to give my work a finished look, it seems to me that it is the frame that gives the photo a finished look.

For people who have websites or blogs and use other people's photos and pictures from the Internet, a frame created in Photoshop will give your picture some uniqueness, and I sometimes use it on a Bulgarian site when there are no necessary photos in my photo archives.

A variety of photo frames, simple and complex, can be found on the Internet, and insert your photo or picture there, but the goal of this lesson is to teach you how to make a frame yourself using and.

There are a lot of ways to create frames, and we will learn how to make the simplest frame.

In preparing this lesson, I “played around” a bit, and I got not even one, the simplest, but two frames, so forgive me if it seems long and boring to you.

Believe that when you get your hands on it, the creation process itself will be interesting and creative, and not even as long as it seems.

I hope that by creating a photo frame with me, you will learn how to work with one or another, and understand some of the principles of working in the CS5 program.

So, let's get started, at the same time consolidating the acquired skills of the first lessons on studying the interface and tools of Photoshop.

1. Open a photo or picture. Let's use the classic method described in. For this we go to menu - file - open….

2. You will have an additional window, as a rule, with the pictures that you used the last time in Photoshop. But, I think that you know how to use a computer, and you can easily find the folder you need with the picture that you need to work.

I took a photo from my photo folder a trip to the tulip parade in Balchik. Select the desired photo by clicking on it 1 time with the left mouse button and click on OPEN.

3. The selected photo will be loaded onto the workspace. To continue working with it, you need to convert it to a layer, or in common parlance "remove the lock". To do this, left-click twice on the background located in the layers palette.

4. An additional window will pop up, which I recommend to immediately rename if it is a big and painstaking work with many layers. There are two ways to do this: immediately or after. Now we will rename the layer immediately.

Therefore, in the additional window that opens, instead of writing Layer 0 - Yellow tulips and press the button OK.

After that, you will see the name of your first layer in the word palette.

I will immediately show the second way to rename the layer. To do this, I'll go back, by the way, this can be done by going to the menu - editing - back. So don't be afraid to mess something up, as there's always the option to go back and even a few steps into your story.

So, I returned to the previous position when I double-clicked on the background lock. an additional window pops up, click on OK.

On the right in the layers panel we see that instead of the word Background appeared Layer 0.

We click on the active layer (it is always blue) with the right mouse button and on the additional tab we look for LAYER PARAMETERS and click on the phrase with the left button 1 time. You will again have an additional window, as in the previous screenshot, where you Layer 0 rename to Yellow tulips.

5. Now let's learn how to resize a photo. In my case, it is large 4000 by 3000 px.

To do this, we stomp into Menu - Image- Image size.

You see the size of my photo is huge. I will reduce it to make it easier and so that the picture can be viewed conveniently at 100% scale.

To do this, you can specify the dimensions of only the length or width. These parameters are connected, and when you change one, the other automatically changes in the right proportions. I write instead of 4000 px 700 and the height of the photo also changes, click OK.

And horror, our picture is almost invisible on the working field, because the scale of the original photo was 16.67%. After all, it did not fit in the working field in full size. What to do?

6. Now we will make a duplicate of the layer, so to speak, for fidelity, so as not to spoil the original in which case, and then it came in handy in my work. For you, this is just a skill, and to create a duplicate, right-click on the active layer, and on the tab that opens, look for the phrase "Duplicate Layer". Click on it with the left mouse button 1 time.

An additional window will appear that prompts you to create a duplicate layer, press OK.

And as you can see in the screenshot below, a copy of the yellow tulips layer appeared in the layers panel.

7. Now we will create the simplest frame. Only now we have reached the topic of the lesson.

Go to the copy of the layer, and it will be active for us. After that we need to select the layer. There are several ways to select, I will talk about two. The first is the simplest: we stomp in Menu - Selection - All. On word All click the left mouse button 1 time.

The second one is there: menu- selection - load selected area.

After that you will see an additional window "Download Selected Area", click on OK leaving all settings as default.

And you will see that in both the first and second cases, dashed lines ran near the picture. This is the selection.

Now we need to make our frame, but in this tutorial I want to shift the selection lines a little. For this you need to go to Menu - Selection - Modification - Compress, but as you can see from the screenshot, the Compress function is inactive. Let's activate it! Click on active Border.

Let's make the border 1 px wide. OK.

In order for the compression to pass correctly, you need to add an inversion to the selection. We stomp in Menu - Selection - Inversion.

And now we repeat Menu - Selection - Modification - Compress.

In an additional window, we write compression, for example, on 20 px And OK.

We will see after that that the selection has shifted to the center by 20 pixels. This will be our frame. I want to create it on a new layer, it may come in handy later, and you will also learn how to create new layers. Stomp down the layers panel and left-click on the icon with a curved corner.

And go to an empty active layer. The frame is also highlighted.

Let's color our frame. Let's go to menu - editing - stroke.

An additional window "Run Stroke" will open. I decided to make a thin 2 px stroke. Outdoor. The yellow color prevails in the photo, so I decided change base color in the toolbar to yellow. To do this, activate the tool PIPETTE.

With active instrument PIPETTE and left-click on the selected color in the photo. The "Select Stroke Color" window opens, there the color changes to yellow, OK, and then the stroke color also changes to yellow, OK again. This is the first thin yellow frame on the transparent active layer.

When we deselect as shown in the screenshot, then

you will see a clear yellow frame. Actually this is the way I wanted to tell you about.

But, as I said, I "played out." To be honest, creating in Photoshop is more interesting than writing lessons, but since I promised, there will be lessons.

8. Made a second frame. It seems to me that some of my actions are repeated from the first part of the lesson, let it be to consolidate the material.

To create a new frame, I went back a step and canceled "Deselect". The selection reappeared.

In the layers panel, I switched to the "Yellow tulips copy" layer and made it active. I pressed the Delete button, on my computer it's Del. And the middle of the photo became transparent before the selection, provided that the Yellow Tulips layer had its visibility turned off.

Deselected in Menu - Selection - Deselect and included visibility first layer"Yellow tulips".

Layer 1 renamed to Frame layer, remember from the beginning of the lesson.

And this layer became active. With the Shift key held down, activate the second layer called "Yellow tulips copy" and merge them into one. To do this, we stomp into Menu - Layers- Merge layers and click the left mouse button on the above phrase.

On the right in the layers panel, the first layer "Yellow tulips" and the layer "Frame" remained. Create a new empty layer. See screenshot. The icon for creating a new transparent layer at the bottom of the layers panel.

Go to the "Frame" layer and make it active. Let's go to Menu - Selection - Download selection. Why is that? If we apply Highlight - All, only the outer edge of the frame will be selected.

In the additional window, click on OK. And when using the function Download selection, the entire frame is selected.

Like the screenshot below. Go to the top transparent layer, stomp in menu - editing - fill.

Remove selection in Menu - Selection - Deselect. Set the opacity of layer 1 (yellow frame) to 40%. See screenshot below.

It seemed to me that it was quite good. So let's sign our work. Why activate the text tool. After all, the signature is a kind of brand name, logo, so to speak. But here it is not logo. I will talk about it later in another lesson.

We set the marker in the place where you want to write your text, I did it on the frame, and I did not change the color of the text on purpose. The color was remembered by the CS5 program when I did something before. We write our text and left-click on the layer with the letter T, and after that the layer will automatically be renamed to your phrase. I have this Olga Konovalova.

And finally, change the color. I decided to change blue to yellow. With the active TEXT tool in the toolbar, click on the blue box with the text color in . And select the desired color with the pipette (see the toolbar).

It seemed to me that the signature is too bright, let's muffle it a little. Doing opacity

A new window opens in which you can see all the options for your photo. Its format, dimensions, weight. If everything suits you, then click the button Save.

I got this picture! Like? Make your frames, and I wish you good luck.

I hope mine was clear to you. Do not be lazy, try, get your hands on and create, and then, I'm sure that Photoshop will become your favorite hobby.

There will be questions, write in the comments or by e-mail. Send skinshots, we'll figure it out if something doesn't work out for you.

P.S.: All screenshots can be viewed in original size. To do this, click on the picture with the left mouse button.

Probably each of us has photos that we want to keep forever. It is for such photos that you can make a beautiful photo frame with your own hands.

You can decorate your home with a handmade frame or just give it to loved ones.

How to make a photo frame out of cardboard

1. Cut out a rectangle of any size from cardboard.

2. In the middle of the cut out rectangle, cut out another rectangle. Its size should be slightly smaller than the size of the photo.

3. Decorate the frame however you like.

You can use stickers and/or draw something.

You can also draw animals on colored paper, for example, then cut them out and glue them to the frame.

4. Prepare another sheet of paper and cut a rectangle out of it. Its size should be equal to the frame size.

5. Glue this rectangle to the back of the frame, leaving one side untaped so you can insert your photo through it.

6. It remains only to insert a photo!

DIY photo frames. Frame from the pages of a magazine.

This frame not only looks original, but you also don't have to pay a penny for it, since its main element is the pages of a magazine, and any that you can only find at home.

Cardboard

Old (unnecessary) magazines

Thread for sewing

PVA glue

Scissors

Utility knife (or scalpel)
