How to pay for work on weekends and non-working holidays

Work on weekends, as well as non-working holidays, is payable at least twice the amount (Article 153 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).

Specific amounts of remuneration for work on weekends / non-working holidays can be prescribed in the collective agreement, LNA, labor contract.

Replacing double payment for vacation

An employee who worked on a weekend/non-working holiday may be granted another day of rest. But this should be the will of the employee himself, and not the initiative of the employer.

The shortest month of the twelve is February, which in 2017 has 28 days. February got its modern name thanks to the Romans, for whom this month ended the calendar year.

The Slavic peoples endowed it with other names associated with severe weather conditions and a fairly low temperature regime. According to various signs of February, for centuries, they made forecasts for the coming year, noting the features, assuming how fruitful the summer would be.

You can determine how many days in February 2017, knowing for sure whether the current year is a leap year or a regular one. February of every leap year has 29 days. A leap year, always an even number, occurs every four years. 2017 is not a leap year, so February only has 28 days.

Despite the short period of time, February is rich in holidays. Some of them have been traditionally celebrated for more than a century, while others have acquired the status of state ones.

Weekends and holidays in February 2017

As you know, sports are of great importance in the Russian Federation. In recent years, a glorious tradition of family physical education has entered an active phase. Talented athletes showed off their magnificent achievements at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Such obvious successes in this industry became the reason to establish a national holiday - Winter Sports Day, which was first celebrated on the territory of the Russian state on February 7, 2015.

February 23, 2017

Defender of the Fatherland Day, which is celebrated annually on February 23, has a special status and significance. In Russian history, this day has been known for almost a century as the Day of the Soviet Army and Air Force, demonstrating the power and valor of Russian soldiers. In 2017, 4 days are allotted for the celebrations associated with this significant date. The days from February 23 to February 26 are declared days off in the Russian Federation.

The most joyful holiday, giving only a positive mood, accompanied by mass folk festivals, is Maslenitsa. During the so-called Maslenitsa week, housewives bake various pancakes, people visit each other, have fun in games and competitions, ride from the snowy mountains, cheerfully and daringly meet the spring that is already on the threshold.

Maslenitsa in Russia in 2017 will begin on February 20. Every day of the cheese week, as Shrovetide is otherwise called, is marked by some events and rituals. Round pancakes symbolizing the hot and generous sun are baked daily. Throughout the week that traditionally precedes Great Lent, which consists of 49 days, the people lead a wild lifestyle, which, first of all, consists in eating abundant food before a long abstinence from it.

How to relax February 23, 2017

Important not only for the Slavs, but also for representatives of other nationalities living on the territory of the Russian Federation, has become the International Mother Language Day. Established at the General Conference of UNESCO in 1999, it is celebrated on February 21st. 2017 will not be an exception. The main task of the festive events dedicated to it is to promote both linguistic diversity and cultural interaction between different peoples. An extremely important aspect of this significant date is the intention of its initiators in every possible way to protect the languages that are disappearing for one reason or another. This problem remains extremely relevant in modern society. According to statistics, the disappearance of a pair of languages is recorded every month.

Asking the question until what date is February in 2017, it should be remembered that on some of the days of this month it is possible to predict the weather or harvest according to certain signs.

Weekend in February 2017

A large number of stars on the night of February 14 promise a late spring. A very significant day is the next - February 15 - the Presentation of the Lord. The thaw that takes place will bring an early spring, and the snow that has fallen will lead to a rainy one. Drops marked on this day promise a rich harvest of wheat. Good weather on February 27, which marks the beginning of Lent, will tell you that it will soon be replaced by frosty days.

Time flies unnoticed, and very soon the moment will come when all the inhabitants and guests of Russia will be absorbed in thoughts about the upcoming winter holidays, including the holiday of February 23, 2017 - the Defender of the Fatherland Day. Our country is one of the few countries in the world in which the number of days off and holidays in a row can be equated to small holidays or vacations.

This trend was put into use so that all Russians have the opportunity not only to work fully, but also to have a full and well-deserved rest, which certainly contributes not only to better work, but also to an improvement in the general state of health of the nation. Naturally, such an effect can be achieved only under the condition of active and healthy recreation, since Russia provides many opportunities for the described pastime.

Holidays and days off on February 23, 2017

One of the most long-awaited holidays of the year - Defender of the Fatherland Day- will be held under the auspices of a small vacation: as many as 4 non-working days, with a five-day working week (see the weekend calendar below), Russians are expected in honor of February 23 in 2017. Such a conclusion can be drawn on the basis of weekends and holidays for 2017, provided by the Russian Ministry of Labor on June 7, 2016, headed by Minister Maxim Topilin.

Weekend calendar for February 23, 2017

According to the mentioned calendar, many coincide with the official days off, falling on Saturday or Sunday. And according to the legislation of Russia, such coincidences are converted into transfers of holiday dates to another more convenient working day. As a rule, this day is chosen the nearest Monday following the celebrated holiday. But there are times when holidays are postponed for several weeks and even months in advance, so as not to split the working weeks with other holidays and combine them with official days off.

Rescheduling holidays in February 2017

It is this trend that can be traced when forming the calendar of weekends and holidays for February 2017: there was a transfer from January 1 to February 24, 2017. That is why all Russians will be able to enjoy a well-deserved February rest, thus festive weekend will be held from 23 to 26 February(i.e. from Thursday to Sunday).

Thanks to this transfer, all working citizens of our country have an excellent opportunity to plan their leisure time in advance and spend the time provided by law in an active and full way, so that from Monday they can start the work process with renewed vigor.

The shortest month of 2017, frosty February, will delight Russians with another extra day off. This month, Russians celebrate the main holiday of all men - Defender of the Fatherland Day, which falls on February 23rd. In 2017, the holiday falls on Thursday, so in the middle of the working week there will be another reason to relax. Another memorable date, reminiscent of the difficult wartime, is February 2.

It is on this day that the whole country remembers the events of one of the most difficult battles of the Great Patriotic War - the Battle of Stalingrad, sung by poets, artists, directors and writers. In addition to the harsh holiday of real men, this month (on the 14th) they traditionally celebrate the romantic holiday of all loving hearts -. In February, you can also find out the answer to the question: “when will winter end?”, Because the fluffy winter dormouse never makes mistakes in its predictions.

February 2 - Victory Day in the Battle of Stalingrad

Soviet troops at the cost of thousands of lives managed to defend Stalingrad

In the chronicles of the war years, the Battle of Stalingrad occupies a place of honor. This memorable date was approved in the calendar of holidays of the Russian Federation in 1995. It is designed to remind contemporaries of the valor and courage of the Soviet military. In the summer of 1942, the commanders of the fascist army set a goal - to defeat the troops of the Union Republics on the southern front.

The very middle of the hot summer (July 17, 1942) was marked by the beginning of an equally hot battle - the first stage of the battle for Stalingrad. Soviet soldiers received a strict order: "Don't surrender Stalingrad!" The battles were not just for the city, but for every building, street or block. Thirteen times the railway station passed under the control of one side or the other. In winter (January 31, 1943), the heroic defense of Stalingrad ended with the victory of the Union Army.

The battles for the city went down in the history of the war as one of the bloodiest - more than 700 thousand soldiers died and were wounded in this battle. However, the goal was achieved, and the Nazi troops lost their strategic initiative. Today the city bears the name of Volgograd. It is literally filled with monuments testifying to its heroic military past. The central place among all the monuments is occupied by the monument erected on Mamaev Kurgan in honor of the defenders of the city - the majestic "Motherland".

February 2 - Groundhog Day

In early February, the groundhog will tell you when the long-awaited spring will come.

The date is not exactly a holiday, but, of course, awaited with great impatience. In February, every resident of Russia, tired of frost and cold, is waiting for the gentle sun and warm spring days. Of course, you can rely on weather forecasts, but it's no secret that they are often wrong in their predictions. But the groundhog that crawls out of the hole on this day gives an almost 100% forecast!

If the animal is not afraid of the shadow and does not hide in order to sleep more, then spring will be early; otherwise, the winter cold will continue for another 6 weeks. In Russia, this date passes without much fanfare, but in the USA and Canada it is accompanied by numerous festivals, fireworks and festivities. Moreover, the tradition to celebrate Groundhog Day originated in these countries more than 100 years ago - the first information about the holiday dates back to 1841.

February 14 - Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day card

One of the oldest themed holidays, Valentine's Day, has been celebrated by Europeans since the 18th century. The history of this celebration dates back to ancient times, when in 269 BC the Roman ruler Claudius II wanted to conquer the whole world. The militant emperor decided that he did not have enough soldiers to achieve his goal. To solve this problem, Claudius ordered that men should not marry.

The logic of the emperor was quite simple: a family man wants to save his life and is not too eager to fight, but singles have nothing to lose. In those distant times, a military priest named Valentine served in the ranks of the Roman army. Like a real Christian, he was kindled with pity for loving hearts, starting to secretly conduct wedding ceremonies. The priest cruelly paid for his good heart - he was taken into custody in order to subsequently be martyred at the hands of the executioner.

However, the memory of the good Valentine remained alive. Two hundred years have passed, and by church decree, the day of Valentine's execution - February 14 - was fixed in the calendar as St. Valentine's Day. Today this holiday belongs to the category of the most romantic and bright, and is celebrated in most countries of the world. Every year on February 14, men and women give flowers, valentines and gifts to their chosen ones and, of course, pronounce words of love.

February 15 - Meeting of the Lord

On the fortieth day after the birth of the baby, you need to bring it to the temple

One of the most significant dates of the Orthodox calendar, which is on a par with the holidays of Epiphany, and. It reminds believers of the great mission entrusted by God to his Son. The Presentation of the Lord is celebrated on the fortieth day after the birth of Christ. This figure is not accidental: according to the traditions of the Jewish people, after 40 days, the baby must be brought to the temple, where the sacrament of presenting him before God is performed.

It is on the fortieth day that a mother can cross the threshold of the holy monastery, as she is finally cleansed after the birth of a child. According to Scripture, the Virgin Mary went with Jesus to the temple of the city of Jerusalem, taking with her gifts in the form of a pair of white doves. There she met with the elder Simeon, who was predicted that he would not leave the mortal world until he saw the Savior. The prophecy came true: Simeon saw the baby Jesus.

February 20 - Maslenitsa

Maslenitsa traditionally marks the end of winter

A noisy and cheerful ritual celebration that has been celebrated by our ancestors since pagan times. Maslenitsa lasts seven days, on each of which it is customary to bake pancakes, go on a visit, sing songs and dance round dances, calling on the sun to turn to spring, and nature to wake up from winter sleep. Until now, during the oil week in every Russian city, festive booths are set up, fairs, snow battles and sleigh rides are organized.

The main attribute of the holiday are ruddy pancakes, identifying the Sun-Yarilo. Pancakes are eaten both without fillings and stuffed with mushrooms, berries, meat, fish, caviar, condensed milk or honey. The apogee of the festival is the farewell to winter, which is solemnly burned at the stake in the form of a straw effigy. After the end of the Maslenitsa week, the festivities also stop - the Orthodox people begin to be strict.

February 23 - Defender of the Fatherland Day

February 23 - real men's day

Defender of the Fatherland Day was included in the calendar of solemn dates of the Russian Federation in 1995 in order to glorify the heroism, courage and selflessness of those who gave their lives for the victory, who defended the Motherland or are just serving in the ranks of the Russian army. This date was not chosen at random: it was on February 23, 1918 that the Red Guard detachments defeated the Kaiser soldiers in heavy battles near Pskov and Narva.

Since 1946, the day began to bear a different name - "The Day of the Soviet Army and Navy." In the Soviet Union, this date was at first a professional holiday for those who served in the army, but gradually became just a day for real men who have always been and will be defenders of their relatives and friends.
