They have become a solid foundation for modern fashion trends. This style, which has become a generally accepted classic, is filled with sensual and graceful notes from the recent past. Exquisite antiquity, or as it is also called, vintage style, with its touching charm inspires modern popular stylists, finding its reflection in their unsurpassed works.

Retro hairstyles

Picky and capricious - Her Majesty Fashion is constant in her love for fashionable classics. Weightless waves, tight curls, an endless waterfall of flowing waves - they, as before, captivate the hearts of the male half of humanity. That's why retro-style hairstyles are gaining the preference of most modern girls.

Almost every decade from the 20s to the 80s. last century, was marked by epoch-making discoveries and significant changes in the image of women. Each style is unique and has characteristic features that to varying degrees reflect the essence of a given time period.

Retro-style hairstyles: chic of the 20s. XX century

Hairstyles of this period became a symbol of feminist-minded women towards equality and emancipation. Now driving a car or appearing in public with a cigarette has become a kind of sign of good manners, an outright challenge to the old foundations of society.

Increasingly, ladies chose short “boyish” haircuts: “garcon”, “page”. At this time, retro waves, so popular today, also appeared.

Naturalness of the 30s

Short hairstyles are still in fashion, however, they are no longer as overtly aggressive as those popular in the 20s. Here the girls, tired of protesting, began to choose more feminine waves. At the peak of popularity are flirty bangs and side partings.

Hairstyles in the retro style of that period are not afraid of accessories in the form of combs, hairpins with rhinestones, headbands with feathers and turbans.

Retro-style styling from the 40s.

The fashion of this period gave modern youth the Pin-up style. Vintage hairstyles and the image of young ladies of the 40s were generally marked by deliberate sexuality, playfulness and elegance. A distinctive feature of the hairstyles of that time were high buns and elastic “rollers”, elegantly smooth strands and chic curls. The hair color was always bright - blue-black, fiery red or cold blond.

“Volume” 50-60s

Particularly popular in the middle of the last century were lush and voluminous hairstyles using strong backcombs, wigs and hairpieces. High hairstyles have become the height of fashion, darkening already pretty boring curls. The well-known “Babette” comes from the 50s.

At the same time, short haircuts began to come back into fashion, but in different geometric shapes.

Free 70s

Increasingly, women chose “live” and dynamic haircuts “gavroche” and “pageboy”. It is likely that the reason for such a piquant choice was basic convenience and ease of installation (although installation as such was not required in principle).

It is worth noting that the 70s saw the peak of the hippie youth movement. Therefore, fashionable girls in this time period did not neglect loose hair, complemented by various ethnic accessories.

Shocking 80s

Fashionistas didn’t disdain Khimka either. At the same time, the “cascade” and “Italian” gained worldwide fame.

80s style styling: how to do it

What is special about retro hairstyles?

Despite such a wide variety of hairstyles and styles characteristic of girls of the last century, their main features can be identified:

  • Hair color. The vintage style is characterized by two shades - either heavily bleached strands or black curls. Red or blond, of course, are found, but very rarely.
  • Waves are usually done on short length curls.
  • Distinctive features of the retro style: large bouffants, lush bangs, hair rollers, curls.

Vintage hairstyles for hair of different lengths

Styling hair depending on its length is a simple matter. However, some nuances should be taken into account:

  • Retro hairstyles for long hair

On long curls, high or side ponytails will look organic. And, of course, you can’t do without a lush bouffant, without which a vintage look in general is unthinkable.

As an option, try making a “roller” on your hair on the side near the temple, or two “rollers” on each side.

  • Retro hairstyles for medium hair

Medium hair is the most suitable hair length for antique styling. Ideally, if you ultimately want a styling that is as close to a vulgar era as possible, then you should opt for a graduated bob. You can style it in elegant waves that will suit almost everyone.

  • Retro hairstyles for short hair

A distinctive feature of haircuts of the last century are sharp angles and geometric shapes. In this case, it is better to grow the bangs so that you can twist them up or comb them to the side.

Style your strands in light waves or smooth them with a generous amount of hair gel.

You can never go wrong with a vintage look. They, as a kind of sign of quality, will speak about the taste and subtle mental organization of their owner. So why not take advantage of this?

Elements of each style bear the imprint of the era in which they appeared and were at the peak of popularity. The general features of the retro style, regardless of the variety of styling, are::

  • Hair shade. Strongly lightened and intensely dark colors are most consistent with this style.
  • A variety of curls, rollers, backcombing and lush bangs.
  • Bizarre and original shapes, chic waves and large curls.

As for long hair, styles with lush backcombing, rollers at the temples, and a high or side ponytail are perfect for them. The style of the last century is distinguished by femininity, elegance and sensuality. Exquisite antiques or vintage are perfect for both bold and capricious beauties and gentle, romantic natures.

Fashionistas of yesteryear decorated their creations with various accessories. Turbans and headbands, brooches and feathers were used, bright and catchy; they attract attention and give the shape of the hairstyle a certain completeness. Ribbons, headbands, scarves tied with a bow, and retro hats are also considered integral elements of vintage style.

The most popular options and their photos

In the spirit of Gatsby (20s)

Hairstyles in the style of the Great Gatsby create the image of a bright, luxurious, glamorous and bold woman. Long hair was not in fashion at this time. It was then that the concept of Hollywood cold wave and soft curls appeared. Waves or curls always had a clear fixation, protruded onto the forehead and cheekbones and were emphasized by long earrings.

These types of styling are still popular today. Also, the features of this style include side partings, the absence of bangs and an abundance of accessories such as feathers, bows and shiny hairpins and headbands. If you add bright, provocative makeup to the above elements, you will be able to recreate the true image of women of the Gatsby era.

Gatsby-style hairstyles are suitable for bold experimenters; modest women and gray mice may find the extravagant hairstyles of that time too provocative.

In the style of Chicago (30s)

The image of a woman of the 30s is a gangster's companion, hung with jewelry, with furs on her fragile shoulders and a chic, elegant hairstyle. The standard colors of that time were bright red, black and white blond. Curls can be both smooth and voluminous, with the effect of wet hair on feminine waves. An open neck and chin are considered an important element in the hairstyle., even if the strands are long.

Headbands, turbans, hats with veils and even fresh flowers are considered trendy decorations. And although medium-length hair is more suitable for the Chicago style, there are also suitable options for those with long hair.

Volumetric curls with a headband or turban step by step

The most suitable styling option for long-haired beauties is voluminous curls, intercepted by a turban or headband. Also, only the front strands are curled, and the remaining strands are lifted up and laid in the form of a “bump”. In this case, the root part of the curls remains uncurled.

If in the old days, with the gangster style, strands were simply twisted around the fingers and pinned with hairpins, then modern women have a much easier time with this. To recreate the Chicago style, both smooth strands with the effect of wet hair and voluminous combed curls are suitable.

To achieve voluminous 30s curls on long hair, follow these steps::

  1. Wash and lightly dry the strands with a towel.
  2. Make a side parting.
  3. The curls are twisted on curlers, leaving the upper part of the head uncurled.
  4. Wait until the hair is completely dry, and then carefully remove the curlers without disturbing the curl of the curl.
  5. Fix each strand with varnish.
  6. The hair on the top of the head and bangs are carefully combed.
  7. Lay the curls and secure the resulting hairstyle with a headband

Such styles can make any woman chic and unique, but they are more suitable for parties and holidays; in everyday wear they look too chic and catchy.

In a pin-up style (40s)

Pin-Up styles are suitable for bold coquettes; they are elegant and romantic, but without a touch of vulgarity. Hairstyles of this style are always recognizable; they cannot be confused with anything else due to the characteristic rolls of tight curls, curled bangs and cold waves. Hair color is welcome bright and rich. For decoration, choose scarves, bandanas and ribbons in eye-catching colors.

For long hair, there are many impressive hairstyle options in the Pin-Up style. Long twisted strands are attractive in themselves; they can be styled in the form of a bun, ponytail, shell, and tied with a scarf at the end. Curls from bangs are considered an integral element.

The simplest option for long-haired girls is a high ponytail with pipes or rolls formed from bangs.

Victory Rolls

Victory Rolls or top strands are a pin-up classic. Perfect for long hair, perfect for youth and themed parties. To do this hairstyle yourself, you need to have on hand a comb with a long handle, a pair of hairpins, a curling iron and, possibly, a fixative.

How to do Victory Rolls hairstyle:

  1. The hair is divided into a side parting.
  2. Separate a 2-3 cm wide strand from either side and comb it thoroughly.
  3. Grasp the curl at the forehead and twist it around two fingers in the direction of the head. To keep the roller in shape, the front part of the hair can be combed.
  4. The resulting curl is fixed with hairpins (or hairpins) so that they are not visible.
  5. Then roll the same roll on the other side.
  6. The part of the hair remaining at the back can be curled and left hanging freely, treated with a retainer, or pulled up. Then the back strands are wrapped around the fingers and rolled into rolls towards the head, secured with hairpins and, if desired, wrapped in a scarf or scarf.

High bun of curls with a DIY headband

Another pin-up option for long-haired women is a curly bun with a bandage. Such the hairstyle is suitable for everyday wear and for work. You need to take a curling iron, a round brush, a few hairpins and follow the instructions:

  1. The strand for the bangs is separated, twisted and temporarily fixed.
  2. The rest of the hair is combed smoothly and gathered into a high ponytail.
  3. One by one, separate a thin curl from the tail, curl it with a curling iron and lay it around the tail in any order, forming a beautiful bun. The strands are fixed with hairpins.
  4. Dissolve the bangs, comb them and curl them.
  5. They form a roller and tuck it inward, carefully securing it with bobby pins at the base.
  6. Fix the bangs with varnish.
  7. Take a bandage or scarf, pass the middle under the bun and lift it slightly.
  8. The ends are tied with a bow or a beautiful knot between the bangs and the knot or on the side.
  9. You can secure the bandage in such a way that it does not touch the bun, but is simply tied around the head; the ends are also tied on top with a small neat knot.

Hollywood curls in the style of Veronica Lane

In the style of old Hollywood, where the standards of beauty and femininity were Vivien Leigh, Veronica Lane and Ava Gardner, the presence of curled curls was almost mandatory. This styling method looks most impressive on long hair. Usually the strands fall to one side, and the side parting is done focusing on the middle of the eyebrow. Appropriate accessories would be a hairpin or headband.

For long strands, only large curls are suitable; small curls will not look elegant. An option is possible when the bulk of the hair is collected in a bun, and curls are made on the bangs. Classic Hollywood waves are formed with an iron, curling iron or curlers.

To achieve the best effect, follow these rules::

  • The strands are curled strictly in one direction and in a spiral.
  • If you used a curling iron or straightener, wait until the curls cool down and then comb them.
  • The places where the wave bends are fixed with hairpins or clips and varnish. After 20 minutes, the clamps are removed.

For self-styling, first prepare the hair:

  1. Wash your hair, dry the wet mass of hair with a towel.
  2. Treat still damp strands with foam, mousse, spray and thermal protection if a curling iron or iron will be used.
  3. Dry your hair with a hairdryer, adding additional volume with a comb.

Consider the method of curling using a curling iron:

  1. The hair is divided into strands, the size of the wave depends on the width.
  2. The curling iron is placed at the roots.
  3. Wrap the strand around the curling iron from top to bottom along its entire length.
  4. Do this procedure with all your hair.
  5. Distribute and beat the curls with your hands, the varnish will give additional hold, which is simply necessary in the case of long hair. Strands of this length are heavy and do not hold curls well. If you need to comb your curls, use a wide-toothed comb.

In the spirit of dudes (60s)

In the 60s, dudes looked bold and unique. Since people wearing this style have always attracted attention, the styling of those years is suitable for those girls and women who want to stand out from the crowd.

Stylish hairstyles choose open and bright natures. Characteristic features of hairstyles of the 60s include variety and originality of shapes, voluminous bouffants, ponytails, cocoons, Presley-style bangs and slight negligence. It was fashionable to use hairpieces if their volume was not enough. all accessories, be it scarves, hairpins or ribbons, were bright and catchy.

Among the most popular hairstyles of the 60s are:

  • Hive– the unusual shape was achieved by lifting the entire mass of hair upward and conically twisting the strands inward. The high beehive is Audrey Hepburn's favorite hairstyle.
  • Babette– an unsurpassed hit of retro style. A voluminous bouffant on the top of the head could be found on both ordinary housewives and fashion trendsetters. Slight carelessness, when not all the curls are pulled up, some remain freely lying on the shoulders, gives the image romance and femininity. The hairstyle is not losing popularity even now, and is perfect for everyday wear.
  • Volume Flip was considered the standard of American elegance of the time, although this style is more suitable for medium-length hair.
  • Stylish tails, when a high ponytail is located at the back, and the front curls are styled in any way, in the form of pipes or backcombing, were also very popular.

From the past came to us a little bun, tall shells with a backcomb, stylish buns, curls and, undoubtedly, fancy bangs.

Which hairstyle is best for different face types?

When it comes to choosing a retro hairstyle depending on your face shape, you can follow general principles.

In conclusion, it is worth saying that vintage style includes a lot of opportunities for owners of chic long hair. Regardless of age and face type, every woman will be able to find a suitable option for herself, while creating a unique and memorable image.

Some will say that today it is much more difficult to fantasize. Of course: after all, everything was invented before us! And retro hairstyles are a great way to take the most gusto from the experience of stylists of the 20th century. The main thing here is relevance. A themed party or wedding in the style of yesteryear gives room for diligence in the construction of “babylons”. While a light retro shade in an everyday look will be enough. We have collected 27 hairstyle options from the previous century that will help you stand out from the crowd - no matter: on a holiday or in gray everyday life.

Retro hairstyles from the 30s and 40s: curls to the masses

Elegant 30s

The fact that curls on short hair look very elegant was proven back in the 30s! The beautiful neck, which was revealed even by long-haired beauties, emphasized the sophistication of the woman. A large bend in the curls, volume and a parting offset from the middle are three indispensable components of the fashionable image of those years. The waves were created both at full length and at the level from the earlobes to the tips. The texture of the curls itself was also different: from natural to fixed in a single form (cold wave).

Haircuts that end below the chin and above the shoulders are the golden length of the 30s. To create a retro style hairstyle, you need to curl your hair. The purpose of this step is to add fluffiness. So, half-straight strands are whipped and fixed closer to the ends. Stylistic accessories, as in the photo, will be the finishing touch to such a hairstyle.

And fully curled hair gains breathtaking volume using the same method.

If you use a cold wave, then simply comb your hair back, maintaining a side parting, and create bends from the selected strand using bobby pins or clips. The photo shows a draft version of the future sophisticated retro hairstyle.

After fixation, these improvised means are removed, and the image of the mysterious stranger is completed!

Creating the shape that was so popular in the 30s for long hair is also not difficult. To do this, you just need to carefully fix the strands at the back of your head, exposing your neck. How to do this step by step, see below.

However, negligence was not relevant in the 40s. Curls still triumphed in fashion, but they crowned the female sex very delicately in the spirit of pin-up.

Frilly 40s - pin up hairstyles

Take, for example, retro hairstyles for long hair. A side parting and curl to curl adds shine and is reminiscent of the cover girl of those years. This stylization is demonstrated in the following photos.

Curls lowered from the roots, made for short hair, also refer the hairstyle to the 40s.

The scrupulousness in creating individual elements was transferred to other versions of pin-up hairstyles. Volumetric and strictly symmetrical rollers on the sides of the parting, one roller above the forehead, with or without the addition of a turban - pedantry is welcomed in everything.

Today, to style a retro hairstyle, it is enough to build these bright elements on your head without focusing on the center. Two rollers with an asymmetrical parting can easily be combined with loose, curled hair, or tied into a single elongated bun, or with a flower or mesh. Even one element of a strand twisted into a kind of roll and hair gathered up already classifies the image as a style.

For girls, such features of retro hairstyles may also be appropriate. The main thing here is not to overdo it with the massiveness of the rollers: a neat and light hint of the style of the past will emphasize the young age of its owner.

For those who want to try on a more catchy option, a photo with instructions will show step by step the entire process of creating curled bangs in combination with a scarf.

Watch how to make a very beautiful and impressive retro hairstyle for medium length hair in the following video material.

Although the above options are most suitable for medium hair - there is enough length and there is no excess left - it will look great for short lengths, as shown in the next photo.

Women's hairstyles in retrospect of the 50-60s: there is never too much volume

In the middle of the 20th century, curls were replaced by backcombing on the pedestal of popularity. Hair pulled up reveals facial features, but super thick bangs are also appreciated. In pursuit of fullness of hair, they did not disdain false hairpieces. And to consolidate what was achieved, an incredible amount of varnish was used. Wide ribbons and large curls were also at the peak of popularity. The youth trend of dudes, which originated in the 40s and gained momentum in the 50s and 60s, only enhanced the effect of super volumes in hairstyles.

How you can apply women's hairstyles of the 50-60s, the photos below will clearly show. For example, for short hair, either a curl with large curlers, reminiscent of actresses of that era, or a particularly carefully combed hairstyle is suitable.

The latter, however, will perfectly create a style for medium hair. All you have to do is pull them back, opening your face, add a headband - and the retro look is ready!

Even without an accessory, this hairstyle will perfectly support the intended style.

You can easily give your hair vintage shapes. Combed strands will cover a donut placed in the center of the hairstyle to give hypertrophied volume. You can also complement the babette with a roller on the back of the head, which, together with the accessory, emphasizes the curve of the back of the head.

For girls, such excess volumes are useless. An option with a pre-combed bun and decorated with a hairpin is suitable for them. How to do it step by step, see the photo below.

See also in the following videos how to create a chic retro look for a girl. The hairstyles demonstrated in it will fit perfectly into the format of any celebration, be it a graduation or a friend’s birthday.

Options for hairstyles in the style of the 60s - see photos of examples below - include a malvinka. Splendor and maximum volume were its striking features in that era.

In pursuit of individuality, women's hairstyles in the dude style were complemented with bright headbands, hairpins and ribbons.

Thus, for those who do not want to reinvent the wheel, retro hairstyles will become something that will show the refined taste of its owner. And although one must be able to apply the heritage of the past in modern fashion, stylists have already done this. All you have to do is learn from their experience, and the photo options in this article will help!

Retro hairstyles have become especially popular recently. They can be seen not only on the catwalk in the context of the return of a particular style, but also on stars and TV presenters. Of course, many women want to try this styling option for themselves. Let's figure out what it takes to create a retro-style hairstyle, and who exactly this style might really suit.

Who are these hairstyles suitable for?

Retro hairstyles suit ladies of all ages. They are universal, they can easily be adapted to a particular hair type, as well as face shape, using decorative elements or some styling nuances. They are also suitable for haircuts of any length. Such styling can be considered for ladies of any age and social status.

Features of retro style

It’s difficult to distinguish retro styling from modern styling. Hairstyles of this style have the following characteristic features:

  • hair color. Usually this is either blonde. Nowadays popular tones like red, chestnut, and light brown are quite rare;

  • large volume. Retro styling is also characterized by all kinds of backcombing, the use of rollers, and voluminous bangs;
  • perm. An integral part of many such hairstyles are curls, especially if styling is done on long hair. On short ones, waves or small curls are more often made;
  • unusual bright styling elements. For long hair these are usually rollers, but for short haircuts these are sharp strands.

When creating such a hairstyle, of course, you should not follow absolutely all the rules, especially those related to hair dyeing. But you must use a few characteristic techniques, otherwise you are unlikely to achieve a retro-style hairstyle.

Laying options

Having dealt with the question of who exactly should do hairstyles in a retro style, and what characteristic features such hairstyles have, we can move on to the styling options themselves. To avoid confusion, we will consider hairstyles within certain retro trends.

Hairstyles in the style of the 20s

In the 20s, complex multi-layered hairstyles were replaced by fairly simple, neat styles, often with the effect of sleek hair, which can be created in just a few minutes.

20's style styling

The characteristic hairstyle of this style is created in this way:

  1. We treat the hair or tongs with mousse, which can provide perfectly smooth styling.
  2. We collect the curls in a low bun. We pin up our hair with bobby pins.
  3. We put a decorative ribbon or headband over the styling. The hairstyle is ready.

If your hair is too long to make a bun, don't worry. Short curls were also popular in the 20s. In this case, all you need to do is simply secure the curled strands with bobby pins and spray your hair with hairspray to obtain a perfectly smooth styling. You can also use a decorative hair ribbon.

Refined classic of the 30s

A distinctive feature of the 300s style is the pronounced waves in the hair, often with a wet effect. Hairstyles of this era are very elegant, feminine, but also discreet, so they are suitable for almost any event. You can create a hairstyle in the spirit of the times like this:

  1. Curl using curlers or a medium-diameter curling iron.
  2. Separate the curls and place your hair in a side parting.
  3. Pin the strands with bobby pins so that they hold better, and also fix the styling with varnish. The hairstyle is ready.

Just like in the 20s, perfectly smooth hairstyles were in fashion in the 30s. Remember this, use special mousses or foams to create this style. A special chic is products that give hair shine.

40s style styling

During this era, complex hair styling came back into fashion. The main trend was when doing hairstyles. Despite the fact that visually they seemed quite complex, almost every woman could do them without the help of a hairdresser.

Retro hairstyle option

A minimum of special tools were used for styling, and the process of working on such a hairstyle was as follows:

  1. The hair was separated by perfectly even partings.
  2. Each part was rolled up and secured with bobby pins.
  3. The rest of the hair could be left loose or pulled up into a ponytail.

In the 40s, the main hair accessory was, of course, a net into which the remaining strands were collected. You should also adopt this particular decorative detail. Match it to the color of your dress or suit, and your retro look will be irresistible.

Pin-up

In many ways they copy the fashion of the 40s and 50s. They also use high, lush styles, smooth curls curled with curlers or curling irons, and backcombing. The most important accessory for such a hairstyle should be a scarf that can even cover the entire head.

Styling with a scarf

Making a pin-up hairstyle is not at all difficult. All you have to do is put your hair in a high ponytail, a bun or a shell (if it’s frizzy, you should first treat it with hairspray or a special mousse), then tie a bright scarf over your hairstyle.

You can do this hairstyle not only for long or medium hair, but also for short hair. All you have to do is curl your own curls and tie a scarf on your head. At the same time, try to make your hair as voluminous as possible.

Hairstyles 50-60s

In this era, extremely simple hairstyles with curls came back into fashion. However, even during this period, curls did not have to be perfectly smooth; hair could be unruly and even frizzy. They came into fashion, thanks to which many women no longer had to wear makeup in order to remain fashionable.

Another installation option

A classic hairstyle in this style was done like this:

  1. The hair was curled in large curlers.
  2. The hairstyle was divided into two parts: upper and lower.
  3. The upper part was combed, then, using a sparse comb, carefully placed into a ponytail.
  4. The lower strands were left loose.

The 60s were also a new era for short hair. It was during this period that pixie and garcon haircuts came into fashion through film images. Such styling was practically not required, so it quickly spread among ladies of all ages.

Volumetric styling of the 70-80s

These hairstyles are currently the most popular. And, fortunately, they are not at all difficult to create. This type of hairstyle includes the babette, as well as the signature puffy ponytail of the 70s. The latter can be created step by step like this:

  1. Apply mousse to your hair.
  2. Create a sleek high ponytail.
  3. Make your hair voluminous with a crimp curling iron.
  4. To create a more complex hairstyle, you can pin up the ponytail or make a voluminous bun out of it.

A huge role in the style of the 70s is played not just by styling styles, but also by hair accessories. The best of them are satin ribbons - they make it easy to style your hair like the 70s, and besides, they are not at all difficult to match the tone of your outfit.

Conclusion

As you can see, almost every woman can create something popular today at home, choosing from the whole variety the one that suits her hair length, as well as clothing style. To get the best result, she will just have to carefully study the step-by-step recommendations for creating this or that styling and implement them using simple styling products.

From the 1920s to the late 1940s, the world was under the grip of a cold wave. And this hairstyle has still not lost its relevance. It only rose from the category of “everyday” hairstyles to the level of “celebratory” hairstyles.

Any girl who loves elegant and stylish looks can master hair styling using the undulation method. This is not as difficult as it seems, because our grandmothers made waves without even having hairspray or hair gel, not to mention hair dryers and stylers!

Here are some great throwback looks to get you inspired and ready to experiment with your hair in style.

Expand to full screen Back 1 / 9 Forward

Of course, you noticed that “cold wave” is almost never found on long hair. She became popular precisely because of the fashion for angular teenage women and short haircuts “a la garçon”. Women also learned to style medium and long hair using this method, but a little later.

In English, “cold wave” is called Finger Waves, and it is no coincidence, because it is very convenient to do it with your fingers. True, in beauty salons of that time it was more often called “undulation” - from the French word onde, that is, “wave”. The invention of the method is credited to hairdresser Marcel Grateau (hence another name for the hairstyle - “Marseille waves”): he used hot curling irons to create perfect waves that lasted for weeks without any fixative.

How to make a cold wave at home?

You will need:

  • gel (foam or mousse) for styling,
  • spray with water to moisturize prematurely dried strands,
  • fine-tooth comb,
  • set of alligator clips (without teeth),
  • Polish for hair.

Hair preparation: hair should be clean, damp, combed in a side parting (straight is also possible, but the classic option is hair on the side)

Procedure (photo instructions):

1. Prepare: Wet your hair and comb it into a parting.

2. Select a strand about 3-4 fingers wide on top. Apply styling product to it. Using a motion as if you were drawing the letter “C”, comb the strand from the forehead to the side and back (it will rise at the roots) - secure this position with clips.

3. Using a comb, move the strand in the opposite direction (toward your face).

Try to remove the comb by moving the hair upward to make the wave more expressive.

Secure it with clips, try to place each line of clips parallel to the previous one.

4. Repeat this, going lower and lower, changing the direction of the strand each time, until you have secured its entire length. And move on to the next section of hair.

5. Wait until your hair is thoroughly dry. It is not recommended to use a hair dryer (and if you don’t have time to wait for your hair to dry, then at least put on a hair net) - the air can blow out all the waves.

Carefully remove the clips from dry hair, use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to give the hairstyle its final shape and fix with hairspray.
