Hooks and loops are firmly sewn to the collar of a winter coat, jacket, overcoat, trouser belt, skirt belt, etc. Yet, despite a strong initial sewing, they often come off.

The hook and loop are sewn to the collar of the winter coat as follows. From the collar, where the hooks and the loop will be located, the fur or fabric collar is stripped off, then the damaged places are repaired with hand stitches; fasten the ends of the collar with the lapels, firmly sew the edge of the collars to the collar, etc. After that, a hook and loop are sewn to the collar.

For strength, 6-8 cm long pieces of edge B are threaded into the eyelet of the loop and hook (Fig. 25).

: A - hook; B - loop; B - edge.

Each hook is sewn to the collar in three places with 5-6 through stitches, and the loop is sewn in four places.

The ends of the hem, threaded into the eye of the hook and loop, are stacked on top of each other and both edges are firmly sewn to the collar (Fig. 25).

Then the ends of the fur or fabric collar are repaired at the locations of the hook and loop. The fur is repaired with ordinary hem stitches from the inside, and the fabric collar with stitching stitches.

After fixing, small holes are made at the ends of the collar into which the heads of the hook and loop are passed, securing each head with 4-5 through stitches. After that, the otporotnye sections of the collar are sewn to the collar with hemming stitches.

All work is done with threads number 10 or 20.

The hook and loop are sewn to the waist of the trousers. in the following way. The edge of the codpiece, in both directions from the place where the hook is sewn, is stripped from the edge of the front half of the trousers. The hook with the edge extended into the eyelet is placed 4-5 mm from the edge of the half, just above the seam of the belt.

The hook is sewn to the half by the eyelet in three places; each eyelet is sewn with 5-6 stitches. The ends of the edge are straightened along the seam of the belt and both edges are firmly sewn with hemming stitches to the half of the trousers, after which the codpiece is carefully straightened and its edge is attached with frequent stitches to the edge of the front half of the trousers.

For sewing on a buttonhole to the right half of the trousers, the lining is stripped off from the belt where the loop is located, then the damaged fabric is repaired with the help of darning at the location of the loop. After that, two small holes are made in the half of the trousers, into which both ends of the loop are passed. In the ears of the hinge, protruding on the wrong side of the part, thread a piece of edge c. 6-7 cm, the ends of it are straightened along the seam of the belt and both edges are firmly sewn with hemming stitches to the seam of the belt; at the same time sew the ears of the loop with 5-6 stitches, carefully straighten the lining and sew it to the slope and belt. And while holding the loop with your fingers, close the zipper all the way. Or vice versa, first close, and then insert a loop into the hook. Does not matter. 4. "Terrain", at the other end of the belt, where the loop is "reprinted" and there is a place to which it must be attached. This is how a sew-on trouser hook with eyes is sewn, in addition to the zipper, which is located on the models of clothes in the seam, in the center. On trousers and other types of clothing, where the zipper is slightly shifted to the left side of the center (when viewed from the front side), such a hook is performed in the same way. Only, due to the fact that the zipper in such fasteners is moved, then the loop is shifted slightly to the side of it. If such hooks completely replace the usual fastener (buttons, zipper), then the line of engagement of the hook with the loop should be located on the product along the line of the middle of the fastener. On men's clothing, where the edges of the fastener meet each other from left to right, the trouser hooks are made in the same way, but only in a mirror image. Friends, hello everyone!

Although they say trouser hooks, you can use them as a fastener on a wide variety of other types of clothing - on skirts, shorts, raincoats, jackets, etc. These hooks are already much stronger, if I may say so, heavier than simple sew-on hooks and can hold the edges of the fastener on products sewn from very strong and thick fabrics.

Like simple sew-on hooks with loops, trouser hooks are made by different manufacturers, from different metals, of various shapes and sizes.

But trouser hooks have evolved much more than simple sew-on hooks, and are already more diverse in the composition of components and methods of attachment to the product.

Today there are these types of trouser hooks:

  • sew-on trouser hook with eyes;
  • sew-on trouser hook with adjustable loops;
  • hook - button;
  • punching trouser hook on thorns.

Sew-on trouser hook with eyes.

All those trouser hooks, sewn with eyes, which can be purchased at various specialized stores selling sewing accessories, are very different from each other in appearance. And the eyes, for which such a hook is attached to the product, may be of a different number. And 4, and 5, and 6, and 7 pieces.

But they consist, all sewn-on trouser hooks with eyes, always of only two parts. The first detail is the hook itself. It is usually a differently curved metal plate. The second detail is the loop. A narrow metal plate is a frame that is much smaller in size than the first part.

Any pair of such trouser hooks is sewn to the product like this. Small, round eyes of the hooks are sewn with 3 - 4 stitches, and large oblong eyes, with several (5 - 10) rows of parallel stitches, which are laid close to each other.

Sew-on trouser hooks with eyes are intended for making only secret fasteners and only overlapping fasteners. And they are always sewn so that they cannot be seen from the front side.

Such hooks act as a complement to the zipper at the waist line, at the belt. They protect the lightning from breakage and divergence of its sides during operation.

Now let's see how such a pair is located directly on the product.

How to sew on trouser hooks correctly?

2. Then the loop must be hooked onto the hook. As if they were already working.

3. And while holding the loop with your fingers, close the zipper all the way.

Or vice versa, first close, and then insert a loop into the hook. Does not matter.

4. "Terrain" at the other end of the belt, where the loop is "reprinted", and there is a place to which it must be attached. First with pins so that the loop does not move,

and then with a needle and thread, hand-sewn stitches, it is attached to this place.

Only due to the fact that the zipper in such fasteners is displaced, then the loop is displaced slightly to the side of it.

If such hooks completely replace the usual fastener (buttons, buttons, zipper), then the line of engagement of the hook and loop should be located on the product along.

On men's clothing, where the edges of the fastener meet each other from left to right, the trouser hooks are made in the same way, but only in a mirror image.

How many to place sewn on trouser hooks with eyes on the product depends on the width of the belt, on the shape and length of both its ends.

Pant hook with adjustable loops or adjustable hook.

A trouser hook with adjustable loops or a hook-regulator is used when it becomes necessary to somehow influence the volume of the body that changes several times during the day.

In the morning they are still slender. And then, someone had a hearty lunch or even had dinner, and by the evening the figure also hunched over under the weight of problems and stress, and the body was swollen, in addition to everything. Here's a volume-adjusting hook that will come in handy.

This is also a sewing hook. The hook itself, from a pair of hook-regulator, is sewn in the same way as a sewn hook with eyes (see above in the article). But his partner, a loop, is attached to the product by sewing in rows of parallel stitches, oblong eyes along its edges.

But before you sew on a loop from this pair, you need to correctly determine the place of its "registration". This is done in the same way as with the "one-place" loop described above, but you need to focus on the first loop from the hook. Its location must be adjusted to fit the hook. After all, if you place it more to the left than necessary, then it will not be able to hold the lightning, and it will be subjected to increased loads.

And if you need to tighten the waist, then another, next loop is "hooked" on the hook. And a few centimeters of loosening the tightness of the clothing will not affect the zipper in any way.

The hook is the button.

The front-mounted hook-button looks exactly like a button, but works like a full-fledged hook.

Hooks are sold in specialized stores, in blister packs, in a set designed for about one product and with a special tool for installing them. Or separately, individually and without tools.

Even without a special tool, you can try to install this type of hook yourself, using a simple set of tools that are probably in every home.

Or you don't have to risk it, and give such a hook - a button to install it on a product in a specialized atelier - workshop.

Punching trouser hook with thorns.

Very often sewing lovers ask themselves the question: “ How to properly sew on a thorn hook? " I have a short and comprehensive answer to this question. No way !!! To sew it just n-e-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!

Unlike all previous types of trouser hooks, this type is attached to the product in a completely different way, just in a radically different way. Holes are nailed in the material with the tips of the thorns, and then the thorns are bent onto decorative overlays.

Punching trouser hooks on thorns may differ from each other in design, in the number of thorns. There can be 2, 3, or 4 of them.

But all sets of punching trouser hooks on thorns consist of four parts.

  1. hook;
  2. a loop;
  3. decorative patch for the hook;
  4. decorative strip for the hinge.

Actually, if "in the right way", then a thorned trouser hook is installed on the trousers until the end of the belt execution on them. The location of the hook and loop is determined, and overlays are installed inside the belt.

so that then, on the finished product, the hook and loop are inside and they are not visible from the front side.

But setting a spiked hook like this is such a tedious business that requires calculation, precision. And if there is a mistake? And the holes have already been punctured!

Take a look at the decorative hook and loop overlays. After all, they are so neat and very pretty. So why not set the hook on thorns so that the hook patch is visible from the front side of the product. This installation of the hook on the tenons does not require difficult calculations.

Of course, it will be best if a spiked hook is installed by a specialist in this business, from an atelier or a sewing workshop, and who is also the proud owner of a press with a set of special attachments - punches, for this business.

But even at home, you can try to install such a hook. It is very easy to install. The most difficult thing is to gently bend the thorns with household tools.

A trouser hook is placed on the thorns on the product in the same way as all other types of hooks described above. First, the hook itself is placed on one side of the fastener, and then on the other side the loop is "adjusted" to it.

All the best! Best regards, Milla Sidelnikova!

The hook and loop are used to fasten overlapping fabric edges so that the connection is not noticeable. In this article, you will learn how to sew on a hook and loop. At the beginning of sewing, secure the double thread to the fabric under the crochet with two close-spaced stitches in the opposite direction for strength. The hook is positioned but towards the edge of the fabric, and its tip should not reach the edge by 3 mm.

How to sew a hook with a rounded eyelet?

Sew around each hole on the hook without poking through the fabric. Sew three stitches over the neck of the crochet hook to attach it, and a few stitches in the opposite direction next to the crochet hook.

Position the buttonhole so the rounding protrudes 3 mm beyond the fabric edge. Secure the thread. Sew through each hole and through each end of the buttonhole inside the fabric.

Fasten the hook on the eyelet. The finished edges of the two parts of the product should converge very evenly so that the fabric does not puff up and the parts of the hook are not visible from the front side.

Straight eyelet

Sew the crochet hook to the wrong side of the overlap so that the ends do not reach 3.mm to the fabric edge. Close the opening and mark the location of the buttonhole with a pin on the front of the raised bottom edge (top).

Sew through the first hole on the buttonhole. Push the needle between the layers of fabric to the second hole and sew through it. Push the needle to the next buttonhole and sew. Fasten the thread (top).

Crossbar hook

Position the hook on the wrong side overlapping 3 mm from the edge so that the bar is closed when the hook is closed. Sew a few stitches through each hole.

Close the incision and lay the ends of the belt. Position the bar on the front of the waistband to match the crochet hook. Sew through the holes and secure with multiple stitches.

Covered hook-and-eye

Covered eyelet hooks add a neat look to the garment and are used wherever you can see them. Sew on the hook with a thread of the appropriate color, then overcast the buttonhole (above) with the same thread, without grabbing the fabric under the bar.

Overstitching for buttonholes

Buttonhole stitch provides a stylish look to hooks, buttonholes, rungs and buttons. Position the clasp as usual and sew around the hole with closely spaced buttonhole stitches (top), tightening knots in the fabric.
